maltatoday | SUNDAY • 23 MAY 2021 4 BOATING The wait is nearly over... July 2021. Malta's Premier Yachting Destination. A new destination for the yachting community demanding that extra attention to detail and care for their yacht and lifestyle. www.marinadivalletta.com MARINA di Valletta's ethos from con- ception has been to raise the bar in ser- vice and infrastructure for the benefit of the local yachting industry. Three years since opening, the embel- lishment process is ongoing as the ma- rina continuously seeks to improve fa- cilities that make the customers' overall experience the best available locally. This season, the marina will finally see the completion of the Marina Capitain- erie and in close succession the marina will also commission new WC and laun- dry facilities. Whilst currently the fuel bunkering operations are delivered quayside by truck at a dedicated fuel berth, in 2022 the marina aims to have a fully-fledged bunkering station with quayside filling pumps and underground tanks. Works on underground fuel tanks are envis- aged for winter 2021. This year also saw the arrival of a yacht lift within our marina concession area and the operator Yacht Lift Malta shall provide yachts with fast-turnaround, afloat maintenance, surveys and hull cleaning facilities. These new amenities will consolidate the marina's facilities offering which have become so well appreciated by our 270+ yacht owners who enjoy con- trolled access parking, round the clock berthing assistance and goods deliveries to their yachts, 24hr security and mari- na office concierge services. The marina's landscaping, now ma- turing, provides boaters with a lux- ury-lifestyle environment with high- end finishes and technology deployed throughout. Pontoons remain wider than the average width of local marinas and offer superior stability and com- fort for marina patrons and the marina now looks forward to the transit mar- ket restarting and boaters navigating cross-borders once again. Marina di Valletta reserves dedicated and shared berths for transit yachts up to 24m and during the summer season the outer quay of the 120m-long breakwater has already started to welcome superyachts frequently over 50m in length. Marina di Valletta was the first local marina to support and install the Seabin project in Malta and will shortly be in- stalling a second unit to continue to do its share for the environment. The consortium of local and foreign investors has delivered on their prom- ise to successfully regenerate this once derelict area, into a top-end interna- tional yachting destination, deserved- ly complementing the bustling city of Valletta and its majestic fortifications which overlook the marina in all their splendour.
