maltatoday | SUNDAY • 20 JUNE 2021 17 COMMERICAL Vassallo Group marks its 75th anniversary VASSALLO Group celebrated its 75th Anniversary on 4 June with various activities spread over two days to greet and thank employees for their hard work throughout the years making the group the success story it is today. For a number of years the 4th June has been celebrated with an event for employees, 'The Shine Awards', which as the name suggests acknowledges those hard-working employees who shine, and their dedica- tion to the company. Due to COVID-19 restric- tions this event could not be held this year so it was time to improvise and work around the restrictions. Chairman Nazzareno Vassal- lo, as well as CEO Pio Vassallo, various shareholders, directors and top management visit- ed employees at their place of work to present them with long service award trophies and re- tirement bonuses, forming part of the Vassallo Group Loyalty and Retirement schemes. The visits were spread over two days where the group vis- ited all CareMalta's Elderly homes, the newest home for HILA - Casal Nuovo in Paola, Campus Hub at the Universi- ty, Vassallo Business Park in Burmarrad, CaterEssence and Learning Works at the Land- mark in Qormi and Group Head Office in Mosta. In addition to the long service awards being distributed, the 4th also included an inaugura- tion of the administrative block at Vassallo Business Park, The Cake Box 7th Birthday, Learn- ing Works Anniversary as well as two ZVART (Zaren Vassal- lo Art Initiative) events, one at the Chairman's Office and another at the Mosta Head Of- fice. Vassallo Group celebrated its 75 years of success by adhering to its motto Tradition, Innova- tion, Diversity. MeDirect Bank Malta continues to support Otters ASC MEDIRECT Bank Malta has once again extended its support to Otters ASC, as it hosted the annual registration process for the upcoming season of water- polo classes as well as swimming classes at the MeDirect invest- ment centre in Rabat, Gozo on Saturday 12 June. Many young individuals registered for this year's classes which will be held throughout the summer. The aspiring athletes were al- so handed MeDirect merchan- dise throughout the morning. Also on Saturday 12 June, Mr. Joseph Refalo, Senior Wealth Manager at MeDirect Bank presented Otters ASC with the updated sponsorship agree- ment for the coming year. This is part of our ongoing commitment towards the communities we operate in," said Mr. Refalo. THE Waterfront Hotel in Sliema was honoured to welcome Hon. Clayton Bartolo, Minister for Tourism and Consumer Protec- tion and Mr. Johann Buttigieg the CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, on the 15th of June. During this visit, the Managing Director Mr. Brian Mizzi, CEO Ms. Maria Micallef and Gen- eral Manager Ms. Charmaine Camilleri showed Hon. Bartolo and Mr. Buttigieg the recent- ly renovated rooms, suites, and luxury facilities. The Water- front Hotel is a 4-star hotel with an estate of 165 rooms and belongs to the Mizzi Family. It has been in operation since the year 2000. During the hotel tour Ms. Camilleri discussed the various measures and in- centives the Waterfront Hotel team took to strengthen the business of the hotel post-pan- demic and the ability to retain all staff members, also thanks to the assistance provided by Government. Mr. Mizzi and Ms. Micallef highlighted the investment of 9 million euros in 2019 which re- sulted in the addition of 49 new rooms and 11 new suites as well as the investment of 2 million Euros in the construction of a new Lido in partnership with 115 the Strand Hotel and Bay- view Hotel. These investments reflect the company's vision to elevate the tourist experience by creating a modern and com- fortable space for accommoda- tion and leisure.
