MALTA has the 21st-highest mean
internet download speed in the
world, at 85.20Mbps, analysis of over
1.1 billion broadband speed tests
worldwide has revealed. is places
Malta ahead of countries like Ger-
many, Italy and the United Kingdom.
e annual research, designed and
compiled by Cable.co.uk and M-Lab,
compares almost every country, ter-
ritory and region in terms of its in-
ternet speeds.
As a benchmark, the research ex-
amined how long it would take to
download an HD movie of of 5GB in
more than 224 countries and territo-
ries. e results show it would take
2m 29s at the average speed experi-
enced in table-topper Jersey, while it
would take 22h 34m in last-placed
Turkmenistan.
THE Malta Chamber has presented
its pre-budget proposals to the Prime
Minister and members of the cabinet,
calling for a budget which addresses
immediate business needs which also
