MANY Gozo businessmen are livid at
having employees - whom they supported
heavily during the worst of the COVID-19
pandemic - leaving their employment in
droves to join the public sector, Business-
Today has learned.
Joseph Borg, chairperson of the Gozo
Business Chamber, said that, after the
COVID mitogating meating measures
started to be relaxed, many businesses in
Gozo registered an exodus of employees
to the public sector.
"This has left many of our members
irked, especially after many had sacrificed
a lot to make sure to keep their staff em-
ployed, and paid, during the worst months
of the pandemic," he said.
THE Farsons Group has regis-
tered a turnover of €41.6 million
during the first six months of
the current financial year, a 13%
improvement over the same pe-
riod of last year, during which
turnover totalled €36.8 million.
Increased turnover was expe-
rienced across all business sec-
tors, being most pronounced in
the franchised food operations,
where almost all outlets were
closed for much of the prior
year period.
