maltatoday | SUNDAY • 30 JANUARY 2022 16 MAPFRE sponsors Malta Trust Foundation's latest project at Villa Bianca MAPFRE Malta represented by MAPFRE Middlesea and MAP- FRE MSV Life have signed an agreement with The Malta Trust Foundation to support its latest project, Villa Bianca – a space within which children and young people can experience Music and the Arts. The agreement was signed by HE President Emeritus Marie Louise Coleiro Preca on behalf of Malta Trust Foundation and CEO Etienne Sciberras on be- half of MAPFRE MSV Life and CEO Javier Moreno on behalf of MAPFRE Middlesea plc. Villa Bianca, being set up by the Malta Trust Foundation, is a specialised, not-for-prof- it pro-vider of Music Sessions and Music Therapy to children and young people that may have lit-tle access to such ar- tistic experiences. This Centre will explore Music at its core, hoping to extend its services to other Arts in future. HE Coleiro Preca explained that " Music has the power to support, enrich, even trans- form the human experience. Children with impairments deserve access to the Arts es- pecially for their power to en- hance personal growth and de- velopment." This Space for Music is found- ed on the belief that artistic ex- periences can help individuals to untap pathways of commu- nication and self-expression, leading to a strong sense of em-powerment and ability, whether musical or otherwise. Etienne Sciberras comment- ed that "MAPFRE MSV Life is glad to contribute towards such initiative and believes that many children with diverse abilities will benefit greatly from having such musical op- portunities and experiences." Javier Moreno said "strong ethical values are fundamen- tal to our business and form the foundation of our corpo- rate culture, we believe we need to contribute towards the well-being of society and this collaboration will help chil- dren with disabilities to devel- op more skills and find comfort in music." He remarked: "at MAPFRE we are people who look after people and we feel privileged to be able to help out such initiatives". Villa Bianca acknowledg- es that all children and young people, even the most vulner- able, have unique abilities and ways of expressing themselves. Villa Bianca will adopt a per- sonal-ly-tailored approach whereby each individual will be guided towards the most bene- ficial programme, whether this is on a one-to-one basis or in a music group. It will also sup- port music teaching and learn- ing within the centre or hand- in-hand with other providers, ensur-ing that each individual has the most enriching experi- ence with the Arts. MAPFRE refers to MAPFRE Middlesea p.l.c. (C-5553) and MAPFRE MSV Life p.l.c. (C- 15722). Both entities are au- thorised under the Insurance Business Act, Cap 403 of the Laws of Mal-ta and are regulat- ed by the Malta Financial Ser- vices Authority. M&Z p.l.c. celebrates 100 years M&Z p.l.c. celebrates its 100-year anniversary in 2022. This iconic milestone for one of Malta's leading importers and distributors of food, ice-cream, personal care, home care and baby care products, has been enabled by the Company's un- wavering commitment to qual- ity service, innovation and sus- tainable entrepreneurship. The Company's journey start- ed in 1922 with the establish- ment of a business in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FM- CG) sector. Years later, when the original founders eventual- ly moved away from the busi- ness, the thriving enterprise was, in 1998, transferred to M&Z (Marketing) Ltd, a com- pany wholly owned by Micallef and Zammit Limited. A year later M&Z (Marketing) Ltd was appointed sole distributer of Unilever spreads in Malta. Over the following years, the Company's vision led to fur- ther growth and expansion. In 2007, all Unilever food brands available on the local market were consolidated under M&Z (Marketing) Ltd, extending the Company's portfolio fur- ther. In 2014 and then again in 2016, the acquisition of a food importation division of Edible Oil and of V&F Portelli brands, further expanded the Com- pany's food and personal care range. Then on the 13 January of this year, the Company be- came a public limited liability company. Today M&Z p.l.c. represents many household names such as Knorr, Bovril, Algida, Ella's Kitchen, Organix, Vaseline and Ben & Jerry's as well as oth- ers such as Chicco, Colman's, Flora, Brut and Elmlea. Paul Camilleri, Executive Director at M&Z p.l.c., said, "The jour- ney that started 100 years ago continues today as we strive to deliver exceptional value. Nowadays the market is very different to what it was in the past, but we have embraced the changes and harnessed new technologies, all the while nev- er forgetting our entrepreneur- ial roots and the people who have helped build the Compa- ny into the market-leader it is today." As part of its landmark anni- versary, M&Z p.l.c. has moved to new offices, embarked on a corporate brand refresh and launched a new company web- site at https://mz.com.mt/ as well as a Direct-to-Consumer website at https://whatsin- store.com.mt/. Greta Camilleri, the Compa- ny's newly appointed Managing Director, said "Reaching our 100-year anniversary is a tes- tament to the Company's own commitment and dedication, as well as the trust our custom- ers have placed in us to deliver superior service and products. As a leader in the Maltese FM- CG sector, we are excited to celebrate this achievement and inspired by the past to build an exciting future by bringing innovative supplier distribu- tion solutions, an even wider portfolio of quality products and exceptional service to the market."
