Heritage Malta to open several museums
and sites for the feast of St Paul's shipwreck
ON Thursday, 10th February,
in celebration of the feast of
St Paul's shipwreck, Heritage
Malta will be opening several
museums and sites which are
not usually accessible to the
public on Thursdays due to
the currently reduced open-
ing hours brought about by the
pandemic situation.
The sites are Fort St Elmo and
the National War Museum; the
National Museum of Archae-
ology; MUŻA; Fort St Angelo;
the Tarxien Temples; St Paul's
Catacombs; Ħaġar Qim and Im-
najdra; the Gozo Citadel sites
and the Citadel Visitors' Centre;
Ġgantija and Ta' Kola Windmill.
St Paul's Catacombs – named
after the celebrated saint him-
self – will feature roaming
re-enactment actors dressed
as Roman soldiers, and a col-
lection of statues of Saint Paul
traditionally displayed in Mal-
tese homes in celebration of
the feast.
Since honey was a staple in
Roman times, visitors of the
catacombs will also have the
opportunity to purchase the
award-winning honey pro-
duced by bees kept at some of
Heritage Malta's sites. Exclu-
sive artisan jewellery will be on
sale too.
The sites will be open from
09:00 until 16:30. Normal ad-
mission rates apply. Students
and seniors are encouraged to
make use of their Heritage Mal-
ta passports.
