maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 APRIL 2022 10 ALMANAC My essentials SAR AH BONACI 26, graphic designer, photographer, artist I graduated with a Bachelor's degree with honours in digital arts in 2021 from the University of Malta. In 2022 I participated in my first major exhibition, "Sea, Sunset, moon" at Spazju Kreattiv, displaying a collection of manipulated Polaroids. I get pleasure and satisfaction from creating art, especially when it comes to taking photographs. I specialise in analogue and Polaroid photography and explore themes of memory, human nature and impermanence in my work. I also love spending time in nature and with my loved ones. 1 2 4 5 1. Book 3 2. Film 3. Internet/TV 4. Music 5. Place I love watching nature documentaries; recently I watched 'Jane', about the English primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goo- dall. I enjoyed this one par- ticularly as I found it in- spiring, and I have always wanted to get the oppor- tunity to work closely with wild animals, help them and study them. ONLINE I follow mostly other photographers, artists and herbal medicine pages. I love using the internet to learn, explore and get in- spired. One of my favourite photographers on Instagram are Moni Jia Rui and Bryan Liston. THIS is a tough question. I have a lot of different favour- ites according to my mood – classical, folk, rock, indie, however I think one of my fa- vourite musicians is Leonard Cohen. I think his music is like poetry. I recently went on vacation to Lake Como. It was one of the most beautiful places I've ev- er seen, full of mountains and beautiful scenery, I felt a kind of peace there. There are plen- ty of other places I want to visit in the future, but the top destinations have to be Alas- ka, Japan and New Zealand. ONE of my favourite books that I read is "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez. Its part of the canon of magical realism and tells a multi-generational story about a family in the fictional town of Macondo. What I love about this novel is the beauti- ful and interesting way it man- aged to show the desire for sol- itude conflicting with the need for love, which is a conflict al- most every human being goes through in their lives.
