maltatoday | SUNDAY • 17 JULY 2022 14 COMMERCIAL New THUN brand store opens in Valletta A new shop exclusively dedi- cated to THUN products has opened in Valletta, as part of the unique Italian brand's ev- er-growing international fran- chise. As a leader in the gifts and ac- cessories industry, THUN has a network of more than 1,000 shops across Italy – with oth- ers regularly launched world- wide. In the newly launched THUN franchise shop in Mal- ta, customers will find some of the brand's range of ceramics, ornaments and kitchenware items, ideal for the home or as gifts. Lene Thun founded the brand in 1950, creating distinctive ce- ramic figures inspired by the sight of her sleeping sons and the Angel of Bozen, the uni- versally recognised symbol of South Tyrol and the city of Bozen. Today, THUN prod- ucts continue to bring joy to customers across the globe through evoking the magic and warmth of childhood in its huge range of artisanal decorative and functional products that symbolise love and affection. Bringing THUN to Malta, brothers Joseph and Ray Butti- gieg channel into the franchise years of experience in one of the island's longest-running and fa- vourite family-run businesses, the popular Café Santa Lucia in Attard and its wider catering arm. "Throughout the years, clients have entrusted us with celebrat- ing their most special moments. As time went by, we felt that – apart from culinary delicacies – we wanted to provide our cli- ents with something more: spe- cial keepsakes that would help them hold onto dear moments a little while longer," said the Buttigieg family at the THUN franchise shop's launch. "With this came the idea of the Santa Lucia Gourmet and gift shop, which opened its doors two years ago to cater for exclusive gifts for loved ones. In THUN, we have found a product whose message is akin to ours: a prod- uct that invokes feelings of warmth and tradition, class and elegance. Thank you for being with us today as we mark the beginning of this new venture!" The THUN franchise shop in Valletta launched on July 7, in an event open to the Buttigieg family and friends, as well as members of the press and me- dia, and the international com- mercial director for THUN , Mr Andreas Xynogalas. The first THUN shop in Mal- ta officially opened its doors to customers from July 8. THUN can be found at St John's Square c/w Zachary Street, Valletta. More informa- tion about the wide range of THUN products and the THUN franchise is available at https:// www.thun.com, on Instagram @thunmalta, and on Facebook THUN MALTA. Delicata's Classic Wine Festival is back THE Delicata Classic Wine Festival, Malta's grandest and longest-running wine festival, returns to the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August 2022, every evening from 7pm until midnight. After a forced 2-year hiatus, Delicata is delighted to stage the 19th edition of their festival, an event that transcends just wine tasting. It also supports the local music, arts, culture and culinary scene as part of Delicata's environment, social and governance (ESG) commitment. The wines are still the stars, though. Over 20 wines are on show. They are the semi-spar- kling Frizzantes, the DOK Malta Medina and DOK Gozo Vic- toria Heights boutique wines, the flagship Gran Cavalier and Grand Vin de Hauteville ranges, the sweeter lifestyle Dolcino and Falcon wines, the lush Casella Moscato and other varietals of the Classic Collection, all three of the Pjazza Reġina wines, as well as the popular SpritZZers. Entrance is free. But to try the wines there is a fee of €20 for a handy wine purse of 24 wine coins and a souvenir glass to keep. Handing over the correct change of wine coins will prompt wine stewards to pour a standard glass of wine. Every evening there is a dou- ble-bill of top local talent on show. On Saturday, Cash and Band is followed by Red Electrick. On Sunday, Kurt Calleja & Band kicks off and the Spiteri Lucas Band closes the festival. Live cooking stalls will be serv- ing a tempting variety of both traditional Maltese and interna- tional dishes to tease a wide range of palates prepared by Malta's top event caterers Il-Kcina, Noodle Box, Grill Street, Gate of India and Sky Lounge by Luna. The online payment facility is operational already. Prepayment will save you time queuing on the night since it allows you to collect your wine coins and glass from the dedicated online priority lane outside the gardens. Of course, the cash tills remain open on the night as well. This is the showcase for Mal- ta's wines par excellence. The enchanted atmosphere, the breath-taking views of the world- class venue that is the Grand Harbour and the floodlit three cities will make anyone's visit tru- ly memorable. With wonderful wines, deli- cious food and great live music, Delicata's festival weekend is set to be the one you don't want to miss.
