The noise limits will cover popular beaches and nature picnic spots like Comino, Fomm ir-Riħ and Għajn Tuff- ieħa. The new guidelines regulate activities where over 25 people are gathered in a Natura 2000 site, where any sound gen- erated by this activity will not be allowed to exceed 65dBA as measured at 200m from the peripheral area of the event. This means that noise levels within a short distance from such activities should be slightly less than the equivalent of the noise emitted by a vacuum cleaner at a distance of one metre, and slightly more than the noise emitted by a normal con- versation between friends. 'in command' from afar KURT SANSONE ROBERT Abela is on vacation with his fam- ily but despite being away from the island he has not relin- quished his duties, MaltaToday has been told. The Prime Minister has been absent from the public sphere over the past few weeks but no notice was published in the Government Gazette announcing the appoint- ment of an acting prime minister as is normal when the prime minister is on hol- iday. "The Prime Minister trav- elled on a private holiday to Greece and Sicily with his family in August," a spokesperson for Abela said without specifying the period of the Prime Minister's ab- sence. Asked why no notice was published in the Government Gazette, the spokesperson said "the Prime Minister never relinquished his duties", im- plying that there was no need for an acting prime minister to be appointed.
