2 NEWS 8.12.2022 DURING November 2022, the in- dustrial producer price index reg- istered an increase of 5.72 per cent when compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. When compared to November 2021, the industrial producer price index increased by 5.72 per cent. Price in- creases were registered in all the main industrial groupings except energy. The highest increase was registered in the consumer goods (9.06 per cent) followed by intermediate goods (6.87 per cent) and capital goods (1.20 per cent). Industrial producer prices for the domestic market increased by 7.74 per cent. Price rises were recorded in the intermediate goods (15.82 per cent), consumer goods (12.26 per cent) and capital goods (2.08 per cent). Non-domestic prices increased by 4.46 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 5.84 per cent while those destined to the euro area increased by 1.80 per cent. Monthly comparison During November 2022, the indus- trial producer price index increased by 0.66 per cent when compared to October 2022. Intermediate goods, capital goods and consumer goods went up by 1.48 per cent, 0.10 per cent and 0.04 per cent, respectively. There were no price changes in the energy sector. Domestic market prices increased by 0.16 per cent due to an increase of 0.52 per cent in the intermediate goods and a rise of 0.09 per cent in the consumer goods. Non-domestic prices increased by 0.98 per cent. The prices of goods destined to the non-euro area rose by 1.17 per cent, while those destined to the euro area increased by 0.61 per cent. Finance Minister Clyde Caruana said on Wednesday that 25,000 workers will be receiving the cheque over the coming days for a total expense of €4 million. e measure applies to full-time workers and those whose part-time job in the identified sectors is their only in- come. Workers would have had to be employed with the same employer for at least six months. Caruana said the measure was intend- ed to incentivise employees in these crucial sectors, which have faced prob- lems in recruiting people because of the atypical hours. e benefit will be paid every year with Caruana not excluding it could in- crease over the years.
