The flowers of the white mignonette grow in long taper- ing plumes of off-white florets that look positively fluffy! The white mignonette attracts many insects like bees, bugs, beetles, hoverflies and butterflies and helps to enrich biodiversity wherever it grows. It's a common plant that is already opening its first early blooms to adorn our roadsides with its prodigious masses of flowers. But – like many other wild flowers that have the cheek to grow without our express permission – the white mignonette is considered a weed and consigned to oblivion by bands of men armed with herbicides and grasscutters. It's sad that in this country many consider the oblit- eration of wild flowers as cleaning, upgrading and embellishment. CineAmbjent Film Festival 2023 Our beloved environmental film festival returns in February 2023 at the Valletta Design Cluster with a two-day program and the chosen theme of climate-induced migration. On Saturday the 4th the doors will be open from 3:30 pm first screening the movie Anote's Ark (Kiribati) with a dis- cussion afterwards. Subsequent we are showing Uma: A Water Crisis in Bolivia. Afterwards there will be an afterparty with DJ and food at Maori, Valletta. On Sunday the 5th doors will be open from 1:00 pm, starting with the documentary Thank you for the Rain (Kenya) and a following discussion. Last, we will show the film Delikado (Philippines).The doc- umentaries powerfully show how climate activists and indigenous com- munities from different countries in the Global South are leading their fight against extreme weather events due to climate change, corporate exploitation of natural resources or to protect their water from diversion and contamination. In doing so, they are fighting for their survival and right to exist. All four documentaries are thus emblematic of the fight for climate justice, because the devastating consequences of climate change are already being felt everywhere. British actor Julian Sands has been reported missing after going hiking in mountains north of Los Angeles. He disappeared last Friday in the Baldy Bowl area during bad weather in the San Gabriel Mountains.
