AN inmate out on prison leave
tested positive to an illegal drug,
the Correctional Services Agen-
cy has confirmed.
The inmate was one of four
who tested positive to illicit
substances during routine test-
ing car-ried out by prison au-
thorities over the past days.
"The CSA confirms that no
drugs were found inside the
prison grounds. However, dur-
ing rou-tine testing four inmates
tested positive. The CSA has
already traced back how these
four in-mates ended up being
positive and action against these
four inmates is being taken ac-
cording-ly," a spokesperson
said.

Nurses' union rejects Health

THE nurses' union has re-
jected government's offer
for mediation as industri-
al action in hospitals over
failed collective agreement
talks is leaving patients
worse off.

and Nurses President Paul
Pace said the government's
move is an attempt to stop
industrial action without
coming back with mean-
ingful counterproposals.
"The proposal for medi-
ation does not make sense
because the union has nev-
er closed the door to nego-
tiations and government,
so far, has not told us that
what it offered during the
last meeting held last week
is its final offer," Pace told
MaltaToday.
Government yesterday
called for a conciliatory
meeting with the nurses'
union and asked that in-
dustrial action be suspend-
ed pending mediation.
The Health Ministry said
patients were suffering as
a result of the industrial
action.
