Tel: +35677484511 MARIANNA CALLEJA PALESTINIANS in Gaza are being massacred by Israel with the complicity of Europe, Moviment Graffitti said on Saturday. "Continuous bombardments led to thousands of children, women and men to be brutal- ly killed. Gaza is also dying of thirst, hunger and desperation after Israel stopped the supply of water, food and fuel," the NGO said. In a show of solidarity with the people of Gaza, both Pal- estinian and Maltese support- ers of the cause gathered next to the parliament on Saturday morning. Some participants laid on the ground, while others displayed placards calling for an end to the violence by Israel. At least 4,385 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza strip, according to the territo- ry's Health Ministry. Of those casualties, the ma- jority were men, with 1,756 children and 967 women among them. The reports also say that 13,561 people have been in- jured in Gaza, which is being relentlessly bombarded by Is- rael. On Saturday morning the Ra- fah Crossing between Egypt and Gaza opened, allowing foreigners to leave and permit- ting the arrival of the first aid trucks carrying essential medi- cine, food, and medical equip- ment. Speaking at the ongoing 'Peace Summit' in Cairo, Unit- ed Nations head Antonio Gu- tarres called for an end to the conflict, saying "we must act now to put an end to the night- mare." The organisation has called for 100 trucks of aid per day to help 2.4 million Gazans in the region. Only 20 trucks have crossed from Egypt to Gaza, which still stand besieged and shelled by Israel on Sunday. "The first convoy must not be the last", the head of the UN humanitarian aid agency Mar- tin Griffiths said during the 'Peace Summit.' Meanwhile, on Friday night, Hamas released two Ameri- can hostages – a mother and her teenage daughter – who had been held in Gaza since Hamas's actions in Israel two weeks ago. The two individuals, who al- so hold Israeli citizenship, are among the 200 hostages yet to be released. Hamas cited humanitarian reasons for the release and stated that an agreement had been reached with the Qatari government. Judith Raanan and her 17-year-old daughter, Natalie, had been on a trip to south- ern Israel from their home in suburban Chicago to celebrate a Jewish holiday, according to their family. They were stay- ing at the kibbutz of Nahal Oz, near Gaza, when they were tak- en hostage by Hamas fighters. Activists lie 'dead' in protest of 'the genocide of Palestinians by Israel'
