We will continue to embellish and improve the Park. • We will continue to support Local Councils in projects for the communities. Building and Construction • After the Legal Notice for the Licensing of Contractors came into force, more reforms are in the pipeline to instill more responsibility, higher standards and better quality in the construction sector; • The changes related to the Masons Licence and the role of Project Supervisors for health and safety at the workplace will come into effect; • Work continues on measures to enhance the level of training for those who work in construction; • We will continue to strengthen the regulatory framework of the construction sector; • The recently established Building & Construction Consultative Council (BCCC) will start functioning. Planning and Development • Review of policies related to aesthetics to promote good practices, protect streetscapes and integrate the aspect of aesthetics in the planning process; • Ħondoq ir-Rummien in Gozo to remain in its natural state; • Review of the Local Plan in the Inner Harbour Region of the Grand Harbour to regenerate the area; • The process of reviewing the Strategic Plan for the Environment and Development (SPED) will be concluded; • More Planning Authority schemes to help localities. Occupational Health and Safety • Work related to health and safety at the workplace is consolidated further; • A new law will be enacted to give a new legal framework to the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA); • We will strenghten the Authority's Human and IT resources.
