maltatoday | SUNDAY • 18 FEBRUARY 2024 6 COMMERCIAL The Waterfront Hotel: Championing sustainability in the hospitality industry THE Waterfront Hotel has emerged as a shining example of sustainable excellence, securing a well-deserved spot among the winners of the prestigious Ze- ro Waste HoReCa Awards. This commendable achievement high- lights their commitment towards sustainability and their innova- tive efforts to make a positive en- vironmental impact. One of the key initiatives tak- en by the Waterfront Hotel to promote water conservation is the installation of water aerators throughout all faucets within the premises. These devices introduce air into the water stream, reducing the flow without compromising water pressure. As a result, the ho- tel significantly cuts down on wa- ter usage while ensuring a delight- ful experience for their guests. Moreover, the Waterfront Ho- tel has embraced technology to minimize its ecological footprint by decreasing the printing of pro- motional materials. By replacing traditional print mediums with digital screens, the hotel not on- ly reduces paper waste but also showcases a more modern and cutting-edge image to its visitors. The hotel's commitment to water conservation doesn't stop there. They have taken the wise initiative to incorporate more ef- ficient shower heads into their bathrooms. These shower heads not only save water but also fea- ture LED lights that cleverly indi- cate when excessive water is being used. This gentle reminder serves as a playful way to encourage guests to be mindful of their water consumption, reinforcing the ho- tel's dedication to sustainability. To further expand these com- mendable practices, the Water- front Hotel is utilizing the 500 seed money awarded through the Zero Waste HoReCa Awards pro- gram. With this financial boost, they aim to implement water-sav- ing measures throughout the en- tire hotel premises, thereby ampli- fying their positive impact on the environment. The Waterfront Hotel's success in winning the Zero Waste Hore- ca Awards exemplifies their ongo- ing dedication to reducing waste and becoming a frontrunner in sustainable hospitality. By contin- uously adopting innovative prac- tices and investing in eco-friendly technologies, this remarkable es- tablishment is setting a remarka- ble precedent for the industry.
