NEWS 12 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 1 MAY 2024 Malta-owned Premier Capital served 85 million customers in 185 McDonald's restaurants in 2023 PREMIER Capital p.l.c, the Mal- tese company which operates 185 McDonald's restaurants across six European countries, is planning 11 new stores this year as it celebrates the results of 2023. The group served over 85 mil- lion customers last year, 11% more than in 2022. In just one day, on June 1, Premier Cap- ital served a record 337,190 customers across the Baltics, Greece, Malta and Romania. The increase in customers was primarily achieved through ex- panding the group's network, with 11 new restaurants last year. The group invested more than €33 million in opening new stores and refurbishing ex- isting ones, incorporating tech- nologies like Mobile Order and Pay to provide a better experi- ence for guests. Premier Capital is part of Hili Ventures and is the develop- mental licensee for McDon- ald's in Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta and Romania, with a team of almost 11,000 people. The group's biggest operation is in Romania, which today has 102 restaurants and accounts for 54% of the group's revenue. Premier Capital reported consolidated revenue of €646 million for the year ending December 2023, with EBITDA reaching €89 million. Pre-tax profit totalled €51 million. Premier Capital is also the founding partner of four Ron- ald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Chapters in Greece, Latvia, Malta and Romania which support families in need within their respective countries. The group donat- ed over half a million euros in 2023, raised through initiatives across all stores. IL-ĦAĠAR Museum con- tinues with its series of Sat- urday lectures on 4 May 2024 at 11am with what promises to be an interest- ing talk by Dr George Vital Zammit who will be touch- ing on some salient points in the history of Malta's rela- tions with the United States of America. Zammit is a Senior lecturer at the Department of Public Policy within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy (FEMA), University of Malta. He read for Bachelor Degrees in Business and Computing as well as in Management, and a Masters in Diplomatic Studies. In 2011 he obtained a doc- torate in Politics at the Uni- versity of Sheffield, with a thesis on the international dimension of party groups within the European Parlia- ment. Prior to academia, Dr Zammit served as a public officer at the Ministry of For- eign Affairs, Ministry for Ed- ucation, and the Office of the Prime Minister. He served as Head of Department (Public Policy) and Deputy Dean of FEMA. In 2019, he was Ful- bright Scholar (2019) at Rut- gers University, USA. This will also be an oppor- tunity to visit and enjoy the newly inaugurated exhibi- tion, The Giuseppe Galea Collection, which will re- main open until Sunday 16 June 2024 during the muse- um opening hours of 9am to 5pm.
