This collaboration marks a sig- nificant step towards establish- ing a Metaverse of Malta, with an initial focus on the island's capital city of Valletta. DWorld, a pioneering company at the forefront of the metaverse rev- olution, focuses on creating vir- tual economies for real-world countries and cities in the Metaverse. Through strategic partnerships and innovative technologies, DWorld contin- ues to shape the future of virtual experiences. The MoU also involves the contribution of DWorld in sup- porting and participating in the development of a thriving dig- ital innovation hub in Malta, DiHubMT, inviting innovative companies to establish their presence and contribute to the growth of Malta's dynamic dig- ital landscape. Minister for the Economy, En- terprise, and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri commented on the initiative, stating, "By em- bracing cutting-edge technology and fostering innovation, we are positioning Malta higher up the ladder in the digital revolution sector. This initiative not only attracts global talent and invest- ment but also stimulates our local economy, creating new op- portunities and driving econom- ic growth. This project between Tech.mt and DWorld shows the Country's commitment to digi- tal advancement and economic diversification." CEO of Tech.mt, Wayne Grix- ti, said, "This MoU signifies a major step forward in position- ing Malta as a leader in the dig- ital revolution. By partnering with DWorld, we're not only fostering the development of a thriving digital economy, but also laying the foundation for a cutting-edge virtual experience of Valletta. This initiative will attract talent and investment, propelling Malta's digital and technological landscape to new heights." This initiative will combine the unique historical charm of the country with cutting-edge tech- nology, creating a positive tour- istic and economic impact that will support Malta's digital de- velopments while involving the younger generations. Tech.mt Foundation, established in 2019 by the Government of Malta and the Malta Chamber of Com- merce, Enterprise and Industry, promotes Malta as a tech centre for innovative technologies. Malta embarks on digital transformation with Tech.mt and DWorld partnership THE fifth edition of the Valletta Pageant of the Sea will be held on Saturday 22nd June 2024 at the Grand Harbour. This biannual event, which has now found its place firm- ly in Valletta's calendar, was announced today at a press conference by Valletta Cul- tural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef together with Malta Tourism Authority Chairman Gavin Gulia. The public is in- vited to watch the live show in the Grand Harbour from Quar- ry Wharf, Valletta. Valletta Cultural Agency Chairman Jason Micallef stat- ed that "This year's edition will offer a great show in the Grand Harbour featuring the biggest water fountains we have ever seen in Malta, projections on the ramparts of Fort St Ange- lo based on an environmental theme, a synchronised fire- works display, and a light show. Malta Tourism Authority Chairman Gavin Gulia reiter- ated, "The Grand Harbour is a destination in itself in Valletta and the Valletta Cultural Agen- cy emphasises the beauty of the city not only for Maltese fam- ilies but also for tourists who will enjoy it in a different way through this event". This year's show, themed "Save the Sea", addresses en- vironmental threats in the world's seas, focusing on plas- tic and microplastic pollution. It will feature an animated nar- rative brought to life with an original score, powerful water fountain displays, and a grand fireworks finale, all guaranteed to illuminate the Grand Har- bour. Events will begin at 9pm with a show featuring traditional dgħajjes tal-pass and regatta boats as nighttime falls. This will be followed by a light pro- jection featuring an animated narrative complemented by an original score composed by Cyprian Cassar. The show will continue with a spectacular water fountain by Aquatique Show primarily inspired by the nature of wa- ter. With over 35 years of ex- perience in large scale events and commissions including the Paris Olympics, this will be a show of water, movements and rhythms reflecting the island's culture. The evening closes with a grand fireworks display. The Valletta Pageant of the Seas is once again staged by the Valletta Cultural Agency, with the support of the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Governance and Visit Malta.
