WORK on the new primary school in Vic-
toria, Gozo, has entered its final stages
and the school will receieve its first stu-
dents when school restarts in September,
GozoToday has confirmed.
The new 8,000 sq.m school will replace the
current school, which dates back 160 years,
but will not replace the existing building.
Instead, the new school has been built
on the educational campus in Victoria, the
only of its kind in Malta. This campus will
now include a childcare centre, a kinder-
garten, a primary school, a middle school,
a senior school, as well as the sixth form.
Neville Young, chief executive at the
Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools,
confirmed that work on the new primary
school within the Gozo College is in its
final phase - with school furniture being
currently installed - and that the school
will open the doors for its first student in-
take this September.

Sustainability
of Gozo tourism
levels should
be ensured,

government
IN its proposals for Budget 2025, the
Gozo Tourism Association has called
on the Government to ensure tourism
levels in Gozo are sustainable.
It also proposed, amongst others, the
introduction of a smart ticketing system
for ferry crossings and the replacement
of the leased Greek ship, the Nikolaus.
The operators said incentives to pur-
chase UCA property should be main-
tained and proposed a new fiscal in-
centive to encourage the restoration of
traditional properties and their conver-
sion into boutique hotels.
