MALTA'S minister responsible for hunting
Clint Camilleri has said that Malta will be
adhering to the EU's ban on finch-trapping,
after being told by the European Court of
Justice that it was illegal to justify trapping
under the premise of "scientific research".
Camilleri said it would be presumptuous of
him to issue any premature statements, but
seemed to hint Malta might not be giving up
on applying a derogation on bird trapping.

in 2025 Budget
GOZITANS look set to benefit from sig-
nificant investments to be announced in
the Government's Budget for 2025.
The 2025 Pre-Budget Consultation Docu-
ment lists a number of initiatives the gov-
ernment will launch to enhance transport,
renewable energy, healthcare, and infra-
structure on the island.
The document also promises an improve-
ment in the quality of life for residents and a
boost to Gozo's economy.
One of the headline announcements is
an improvement in transport links be-
tween Malta and Gozo. The popular Gozo
Fast-Ferry Service between Mġarr and
Valletta, which has already seen a notable
increase in passengers, is set to continue
as part of the government's broader com-
mitment to making inter-island travel
more efficient.
