JO Etienne Abela, minister for
health and active ageing, on
Thursday inaugurated a new
mammogram machine at the
Gozo General Hospital.
He said this is the most advanced
mammogram equipment in Mal-
ta and is capable of scanning for
breast cancer quickly and while in
its early stages.
The new Hologic system offers
superior imaging quality and great-
er comfort for patients. In fact the
system can generate a high resolu-
tion 3D image in just 3.7 seconds.
Ultrasound and radiography
biopsies are also going to be in-
troduced, thus offering Gozitan
patients comprehensive breast
treatment services at the Gozo
General Hospital.
Abela said the government re-
main committed to to modernise
radiology equipment and investing
in services of the highest quality.
"We will continue to work to
make sure all Maltese and Gozitans
enjoy superior health services," he
said.
