This assem- bly aims to voice the concerns of the residents in these localities. These assemblies aim to bring together local residents through public meetings where people can share their experi- ences and concerns about the locality, particularly in relation to the coastline and the sea. The NGO is organising sever- al such assemblies across the Maltese Islands, at the start of September the organisation held another assembly for the communities in Valletta and Floriana. Friends of the Earth to hold Gozo community assembly to give residents an opportunity to voice concerns THE newly inaugurated Sports and Aquatic Pavilion in Gozo will host an international mar- tial arts seminar marking the 40th anniversary of Spirit Com- bat in Malta. The two-day event, scheduled for October 17–18, 2025, is expected to draw par- ticipants and spectators from across the islands and abroad. Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri made the announce- ment earlier this week, high- lighting the significance of the event as the first major interna- tional activity to be held at the new state-of-the-art facility. "Interest in the Sports and Aquatic Pavilion has been strong since its inauguration, and this event is a clear indica- tion of its potential to attract high-profile sporting activi- ties," said Camilleri. "We are proud to see international ath- letes choosing Gozo as a desti- nation, fulfilling our commit- ment to making this complex accessible and beneficial to the public." The seminar will feature high-ranking martial arts fig- ures, including Silvio Simac, a world champion and actor, Bill Cox, Head Representative of Spirit Combat Internation- al, and Garry Wilson, Head Representative for Scotland. The program includes live demonstrations and instruc- tional sessions aimed at both practitioners and newcomers, with activities open to all age groups. The event is being organised by Kancho Adrian Axisa, Spir- it Combat representative for Malta, and Mario Saliba, repre- sentative for Gozo. Both organ- isers expressed their apprecia- tion to the Ministry for Gozo and Planning for their support in facilitating the event's move to Gozo. The seminar is expected to boost local tourism and in- crease visibility for martial arts disciplines in the region. Entry is free and open to the public. "This is not only a celebration of 40 years of Spirit Combat in Malta, but also an opportunity for individuals of all ages to ex- plore martial arts in a profes- sional environment," Camilleri said.
