NATIONALIST Party Leader Alex Borg's com- ment that towers could be built in Gozo, which he later declared was not his opinion, has opened a Pandora's box on the envi- ronmental future of Gozo's skyline. With his correction of his original statement and the Gozo Minister's dec- laration that Gozo's sky- line and villages need to be conserved, the two po- litical heavyweights set the agenda days before a national protest against the proposed planning re- forms. A coalition of groups has planned a national protest calling for the proposed re- forms to be shelved. Alex Borg, who has since asked for the environment to be included in the Mal- tese constitution and, more importantly, credibility on his green credentials, is facing a challenge in his endeavours to convince the middle ground of his green leanings.
