The confer- ence brought together regional business leaders, professionals, and entrepreneurs for discus- sions centered on regeneration, investment zones, and Wrex- ham's bid for UK City of Cul- ture 2029. Wrexham's growing profile, bolstered by its economic devel- opment and the global visibility of Wrexham AFC, was high- lighted throughout the event. Borg also participated in a net- working dinner with local stake- holders, where he noted the region's commitment to inno- vation and international engage- ment, a vision that aligns closely with Gozo's own economic de- velopment goals. The following day, on Septem- ber 20, Borg traveled to Liver- pool, where meetings centered on urban regeneration initia- tives such as the Baltic Triangle, a creative and digital business hub. The discussions explored how similar models could be adapted to foster innovation in Gozo. The talks also addressed practical strategies for facilitat- ing Gozo-based business exports into the UK market. The Gozo Business Chamber expressed its gratitude to His Excellency Professor Stephen Montefort, High Commissioner of Malta to the UK, for facilitat- ing high-level introductions, and to Peter Schriewersmann for co- ordinating the itinerary. "These exchanges are an im- portant step in building lasting ties between Gozo and UK busi- ness communities," the Cham- ber stated. "They lay the founda- tion for long-term partnerships that can support mutual eco- nomic growth." The visit underscores Gozo's ongoing efforts to position it- self as a forward-looking, inter- nationally connected business hub within the Mediterranean region. Gozo Chamber CEO talks growth in Wrexham and Liverpool PLANS are underway to im- prove passenger facilities at the fast ferry terminal in Imġarr, Gozo, Transport Minister Chris Bonett has confirmed. The ter- minal currently lacks proper shelter, causing difficulties for passengers during bad weather. The issue was raised in Parlia- ment by Opposition MP Chris Said, who asked the minister to specify when the construction works would take place. He high- lighted the ongoing inconven- ience faced by ferry users, par- ticularly during adverse weather conditions, due to the absence of adequate shelter at the boarding area. In response, Minister Bonett said the relevant authority is in the preparatory phase and is car- rying out the necessary processes to finalize plans for intervention works at the Imġarr Ferry Land- ing Place. He explained that the objec- tive of the upcoming works is to improve the facilities available to passengers using the fast fer- ry service. However, no specific timeline, such as a month or year, was provided for when construc- tion will begin or be completed. The fast ferry service between Gozo and Malta is widely used by both commuters and tour- ists. Demand for improved in- frastructure has grown alongside increased passenger traffic.
