A total of 57 voluntary organ- isations in Gozo will share more than €270,000 in finan- cial assistance under a gov- ernment scheme aimed at supporting community-based projects and initiatives. The funding was an- nounced by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri, who said the scheme is designed to strengthen Gozo's social, cultural and environmental fabric, while also improving sports facilities and encourag- ing the organisation of sport- ing events on the island. "The aim of these schemes is to promote a culture of vol- unteering and participation in community activities, while also fostering cooperation and networking both among vol- untary organisations them- selves and with the Minis- try for Gozo and Planning," Camilleri said. The minister said that the 'Ministry for Gozo and Plan- ning Financial Assistance Scheme for the Voluntary Sector in Gozo' has grown in popularity in recent years, with both the number of ap- plicants and the allocated budget increasing year after year.
