8 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 25 FEBRUARY 2026 CULTURE Zfindays 2026: Moving the audience through feelings, memories and movement THIS February, ŻfinMalta Na- tional Dance Company presents three works at ŻfinDays 2026, a vibrant showcase of the breadth of the company's repertoire, fea- turing creations by three out- standing European choreogra- phers. Matthew William Robinson's BORDER is pre- sented in the first week of Żfindays, as part of a dynamic double bill alongside Nácar, a new work by award-winning choreographer Paloma Muñoz and Mortal heroes by Sita Os- theimer. The three works Paloma Muñoz will be pre- miering NÁCAR, a powerful brand new work which explores a desire to inhabit ghosts; those that survive in images, that per- sist in our bodies, and call out from the invisible. In this cho- reography Paloma Muñoz, one of Spain's most innovative cho- reographic voices invites us to lend our bodies to the memory of others — to become vessels of presence, beauty, and shared echoes. NÁCAR is supported by the Embassy of Spain. BORDER, an explosive work created by Matthew William Robinson (ŻfinMalta's Artistic director) reflects on the lines we draw between us, that di- vide us and sustain us. Like rope binding and fraying, bod- ies combine and fracture, re- vealing an abyss of repetitive memories and ritual. BORDER explores a return to tradition in response to decay, a search for definition guided by a fear of the future. BORDER is com- missioned by Festivals Malta as part of Notte Bianca 2025. On the second weekend of ŻfinDays, we are bringing back Mortal Heroes which pre- miered in Malta last May. This 50 minute full length choreog- raphy by Sita Ostheimer invites us into a visceral exploration of human potential – an od- yssey through chaos and love, shadow and light, fragility and force. Ostheimer's choreogra- phy becomes a poetic search for the 'other', a love letter to resilience, to the human capac- ity for survival, renewal, and transformation. Mortal Heroes is supported by the Embassy of France in Malta and the Em- bassy of the Federal Republic of Germany For more information on our programme and education classes visit Zfinmalta.org If you would like to experi- ence world class contempo- rary dance, join us at Żfin- Days the remaining days are on 27 and 28 February, and 1 March and book your tickets from Showshappenning.com.
