9 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 25 FEBRUARY 2026 CULTURE Palazzo Falson to mark Women's Day with women and the sea guided tour TO mark Women's Day 2026, the Palazzo Falson Histor- ic House Museum will host a themed guided tour titled Wom- en & The Sea on Sunday 8 March from 10:30am to 12:00pm. Set within the historic sur- roundings of Mdina, the event will explore the long and often challenging journey women endured to secure the right to work officially within the mari- time industry. The tour will also examine the broader relation- ship between women and the sea throughout history, drawing on pieces from the collection of Olof Gollcher, the museum's founder. Through selected artworks and artefacts, participants will gain insight into the social, cultural and economic barriers women faced in maritime professions, as well as the lesser-known but significant roles they played in seafaring communities over the centuries. Following the guided tour, attendees will be invited to en- joy a glass of Buck's Fizz in the museum's revivalist courtyard. Should the weather prove unfa- vourable, refreshments will in- stead be served in the Refectory of the Palazzo. Pre-booking is required. Those wishing to attend are asked to email bookings@pala- zzofalson.com by no later than 2:00pm on Friday 6 March. Tickets are priced at €18, €15 for museum members, and €6 for children aged 6–12. Tickets are non-refundable. Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in Mdina marks Women's Day on Sunday 8 March 2026 with a themed guided tour exploring women's historic ties to the sea and maritime heritage The Busker team up with Gorillaz bassist on new single THE track follows their previ- ous release My Oh My and leans confidently into a synth-pop di- rection. There are warped vocal layers, punchy percussion, and of course that unmistakable Busker saxophone running through it. It feels playful, slightly unusual in places, and clearly inspired by the off-centre energy Gorillaz fans will recognise straight away. The collaboration came about in a refreshingly simple and impressive way. After Gorillaz wrapped their tour, The Busk- er sent a late-night Instagram message. A short exchange later, Adelekan had recorded and sent over his bass parts. It is a wild story that shows how accessible the industry can be when you are bold enough to ask. For those newer to the band, The Busker have been around since 2012. They originally start- ed out busking on the streets of Malta, which is where the name came from. Over time the line-up evolved, and today the group consists of David "Dav.Jr" Meilak on lead vocals and guitar, Jean Paul Borg on drums, and Sean Meachen on saxophone. Their sound pulls in bits of indie pop, funk, rock and even a touch of 60s influence, something they have never tried to hide. Many will know them best for representing Malta at the Euro- vision Song Contest 2023 with Dance (Our Own Party). The song topped the Maltese charts for weeks and became one of the island's most played tracks that year. Since then, they have kept busy with festival appearances, television spots and regular re- leases, steadily building a loyal following at home. Behind Bored in the Supermar- ket, the band reunited with pro- ducers Matthew James Borg and Micimago, the same team in- volved in their Eurovision track. The video, directed by Steve Levi Vella, continues their Something in My Head storyline. It follows drummer Jean Paul drifting into surreal daydreams while wan- dering around a local supermar- ket. There is even a nod to Mal- tese pop icon Ira Losco, plus an animated segment by Andrew Scicluna, known for classic 90s Maltese cartoons. For both visitors and locals in Malta, it is another great re- minder that the island's music scene has real character. Bored in the Supermarket is out now with its music video, and it is a fun, slightly eccentric addition to The Busker's growing cata- logue.
