8 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 22 APRIL 2026 CULTURE Local and international artists explore the passage of time in new exhibition A new collective exhibition bringing together Maltese and international artists will open at Christine X Art Gallery on 1 May, examining the theme of time through painting and mixed media. Titled Brief and Never Ending, the exhibition is curated by Em- ma Weller and features 11 artists from Malta, Iceland, the United States, Portugal, Poland, Ger- many and the United Kingdom. The show runs through 23 May, with free public entry during gal- lery opening hours. Developed through Weller's online platform Late Night Prompts, the participating artists responded over four months to the prompt the passing of time, producing works that explore time as measurement, memory, transformation and repetition. The exhibition includes min- imal, abstract, urban and figu- rative works, presenting varied interpretations of time as both fleeting and continuous. Participating artists include Shanice Farrugia, Hallgrímur Helgason, Jessica DeMers, Jo- ana Simaes, Kika Sroka-Miller, Maria Wrona, Martina Vassallo, May Franzen, Nathan Portelli and Eric Attard. The exhibition opens Friday, 1 May, at 7pm The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm. All works will be availa- ble for purchase.
