2 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 29 APRIL 2026 ELECTION 2026 ADPD unveils election slogan, All of Us ADPD-THE Green Party will be emphasising the common good throughout the election cam- paign as it unveiled its slogan, All of Us, on Tuesday. The party said it was com- mitted to ensure the equitable distribution of wealth in an economy that looked to the fu- ture and made use of all human resources. The party said planning deci- sions should take into account the common good and not "un- bridled profits". It added that young people should have a right to have a roof over their heads like anybody else. "In a democracy that works, participation cannot be re- duced to a vote every four or five years," the party said, add- ing public spaces where neces- sary so that the collective voice can be heard. The party said it will be un- veiling its proposals in the com- ing weeks, pledging to hammer home the message in favour of the "community, cooperation, ecology and sustainability". KURT SANSONE ksansone@mediatoday.com.mt Momentum launches election campaign under the slogan Real Change MOMENTUM has launched its campaign for the upcoming general election under the slo- gan Real Change (Bidla Ta' Ve- ra). The party said that their plat- form is grounded on issues that matter most to ordinary Mal- tese families, such as the over- development which has scarred Maltese communities, a cost of living that keeps rising, and a political culture where access matters more than accountabil- ity. "This election, voters will hear plenty of slogans and catch- phrases," they said. "They will be told they matter, they will be promised that something new is coming." "Malta has heard it all before." In a statement released on Tuesday, Momentum explained that Real Change is not a prom- ise of a fresh coat of paint on the same old structure, but rather a reflection of a growing national demand for a Malta that is just, beautiful, and sustainable for present and future generations. Momentum Chairperson Ar- nold Cassola insisted that Malta needs leaders who will act on corruption, overdevelopment, and the squeeze ordinary fam- ilies face each month. "This is what Real Change means," Cassola said. "Not sim- ply a change of tone. A change of direction." Momentum is fielding candi- dates across all districts in Mal- ta for this election, with a plat- form which they described as standing for democratic reform, environmental sustainability, and economic fairness. EVA BRANNON ebrannon@mediatoday.com.mt MOMENTUM has condemned the rapid removal of their ban- ners which were replaced by La- bour Party banners in multiple locations. In a statement released on Tuesday, Momentum described this as "barefaced abuse and discrimination to favour the La- bour Party," which they said was even more shameful since it was done by a public service depart- ment, now being used for parti- san gain by the government. The banners had been placed on Sunday night and subse- quently removed by workers from the cleansing division on Monday morning. Cleansing Department Direc- tor General Ramon Deguara claimed that the banners were removed because they were ille- gally placed as the general elec- tions had not been announced. "Yet, for weeks, the country has been inundated with ille- gal billboards widely associated with the Labour Party," they said. "These were allowed to stand, unchallenged and un- touched, across Malta's roads and public spaces." Momentum insisted that this double standard reinforces a dangerous perception that there are two sets of rules in Mal- ta, one for those in power, and another for everyone beneath them. "The only way real change can happen in our country is if real political change takes place," Momentum said. "This can be achieved if a third party is elect- ed to Parliament, transforming a system based on political pa- tronage to one which is fair for all." "Malta is witnessing tolerance when it suits the government, and swift action when it suits its political interests," Momentum said, arguing that illegalities should not be tolerated, wheth- er by businesses or political ac- tors. Momentum Leader Arnold Cassola said he has lodged a po- lice report against Parliamenta- ry Secretary Glenn Bedingfield for the theft of five Momen- tum banners in Santa Venera and Marsa by employees of the Cleansing Department, since they fall under his responsibility. Momentum Secretary General and candidate on the third and eleventh districts Mark Camileri Gambin expressed his apprecia- tion of the tremendous support the party has received from the public against this "vile" action. He added that thanks to the generosity of these supporters, Momentum will now be dou- bling down its campaign efforts. "Momentum is here to work for a Real Change (Bidla ta' Ve- ra)," Cassola concluded.
