8 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 11 SEPTEMBER 2026 CULTURE Ghasri to host night celebrating wine, olive oil and honey GĦASRI will host an evening dedicated to local food, drink and traditions later this month, with wine, olive oil and honey taking centre stage. The event, organised by the Għasri Local Council, will be held at Salvatur Square on Sat- urday, 19 September, from 7pm until 1am. Billed as a celebration of "taste, culture and community", the event will showcase wine from lo- cal vineyards, artisan olive oil and locally produced honey, alongside traditional food and sweets. The evening will also feature live bands and entertainment, followed by a DJ set to bring the festivities to a close. Families will also be catered for, with a ded- icated children's area offering games and activities. Organisers said the event aims to celebrate the richness of Malta's land and agricultural heritage while bring- ing the local community together in a family-friendly setting. Entry to the event will be free, with free parking also available. The council is inviting residents and visitors to attend what it describes as a night celebrating local flavours, tradi- tions and community spirit. The event, organised by the Għasri Local Council, will be held at Salvatur Square on Saturday, 19 September, from 7pm until 1am Arteaportè brings Malta Contemporary Art Prize to Gozo ARTEAPORTÈ is opening a new frontier for contemporary art in Gozo, returning to the island for the second time with an interna- tional exhibition realised in col- laboration with ArtHall Gallery. The collective exhibition, Mal- ta Contemporary Art Prize, will be hosted at the exclusive Con/ Temporary Spaces ArtHall, bringing together artists from different backgrounds and ex- ploring some of the most current directions in contemporary artis- tic practice. The exhibition project places international contemporary art in dialogue with the distinctive atmosphere of the Maltese is- land, with Gozo transformed in- to a setting for cultural exchange, experimentation and new artistic connections. Painting, photography, sculp- ture, digital art, installation and hybrid techniques will come together across the exhibition, reflecting the diversity of ap- proaches that characterise con- temporary art today. According to the organisers, Malta Contemporary Art Prize is conceived as an open reflection on the role of art in the present day, a space in which different ar- tistic sensibilities can meet, inter- act and develop new visual narra- tives within an international and constantly evolving context. The project also seeks to high- light Gozo's potential as a meet- ing point for contemporary cul- ture, using the island's distinctive character not simply as a back- drop, but as an integral part of the dialogue between artists, art- works and audiences. Through its collaboration with ArtHall Gallery, Arteaportè aims to create a platform connecting international artistic practices with Malta's cultural landscape, while offering audiences an op- portunity to engage with a broad range of contemporary media and approaches.
