6 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 27 SEPTEMBER 2026 Atlas Insurance marks Mental Health Awareness Month with initiatives for public and employees ONCE again, Atlas Insurance is marking Mental Health Aware- ness Month this October with a series of initiatives, including a free public webinar, dedicat- ed webinars for staff, and other content aimed at both TeamAt- las members and the wider pub- lic. The public webinar, titled Be- ing Human at Work: The Value of Authenticity and Vulnerabil- ity, will explore the importance of remaining connected to what makes us human as the world of work continues to evolve, and in the context of an increasingly AI-dominated landscape. It will consider how emotional intel- ligence, empathy and authentic communication can strengthen workplace relationships and help create positive cultures where people and organisations can thrive. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, 6 October, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Wied Dalam comes to life as a new green space at Għar Dalam FOLLOWING extensive resto- ration, Wied Dalam has been transformed into a new space for discovery, welcoming vis- itors for the first time as part of an enhanced experience at Għar Dalam and Museum in Birżebbuġa. The restored valley highlights the deep connection between the cave, its landscape and Malta's natural and prehis- toric heritage. At the heart of the regener- ation project was the ecolog- ical restoration of the rough- ly 2,650-square-metre valley. Central to this effort was the restoration of the traditional rubble walls – a protected form of national heritage – alongside the systematic removal of inva- sive species and the planting of native flora grown from local stock. Supported by a drip ir- rigation system to ensure early survival, the revitalised land- scape now provides a safe haven for native birds, reptiles and in- sects to return and thrive. Accessibility within the valley has also been significantly im- proved, primarily through clear- ing hazardous materials such as bricks and debris. This opened the way for the creation of a safe visitor route, complement- ed with pathways bordered with loose rubble stones. Throughout the works, the valley's historical, environmental and ecological value was carefully safeguard- ed – including its industrial heritage, where 1950s NATO fuel pipes were preserved and seamlessly integrated into the project. These restored spaces offer visitors a peaceful setting to ful- ly immerse themselves in the landscape surrounding Għar Dalam. Wooden benches and an open-air library invite visitors to slow down, explore and enjoy the quiet surroundings, while gaining a deeper appreciation of a truly special site, home to some of the earliest evidence of life and human presence on the Maltese Islands. As an extension of the Għar Dalam visitor experience, en- trance to this restored space is free for children and seniors with a Heritage Malta Student or Senior Passport, which also includes admission for two ac- companying adults. Through such initiatives, Heritage Malta continues to make the islands' rich cultural and natural herit- age accessible for generations to come.
