ROBERT Abela's government receives an overall rating of 3.1 out of 5, plac- ing public sentiment slightly above the midpoint of the scale. Just over half of respondents (53.4%) rate the government's performance at 3 or 4, while 28.9% give it a rating between 0 and 2 and 17.7% award it the maximum score of 5. Labour at the last election give the government an average rating of 4, rising to 4.1 among those who say they would vote PL if an election is held now. PN voters are much less positive, with an average of 2.2, fall- ing to 2.1 among prospective PN voters. An important middle ground is made up of non-voters, whose av- erage rating is 2.8 among those who did not vote in the last election and 3 among those who currently say they would not vote. The data shows a particularly strong relationship between perceptions of government performance and trust in the two main leaders. Respondents who trust Robert Abela give the gov- ernment an average rating of 4, com- pared with just 2 among those who trust Alex Borg. The survey is based on a representative sample of 835 respondents. The sampling approach followed a stratified random design, ensuring proportional representation across key demographic variables such as age, gender, and locality. 'Don't knows' were allocated through a statistical imputation. At a 95% confidence level, the overall survey results carry a margin of error of ±3.4%. 0 5 Government Performance Rating voters more likely to withdraw than switch Government passes with 3.1 rating PN leads all age groups except pensioners The age breakdown shows the par- ties competing closely across most age groups. Among 16–35-year-olds, the PN scores 33.3% against the PL's 31.8%, while 30% say they would not vote. This is the highest non-voting figure among all age groups. Among those aged 36–50, the parties are effectively tied—the PL is on 35.6% and the PN on 35.7%. Within this co- hort, 25.6% will not vote. The PN's largest age advantage comes among 51–65-year-olds, where it scores 37.6% against the PL's 33.2%. Here, 27.1% say they would not vote. Among those over 65, the balance changes substantially in Labour's fa- vour. The PL's pensioner support stands at 44.6%, compared with 39.2% for the PN. Only 14.8% of pensioners say they would not vote. Among women, the PL enjoys the support of 37.6%, compared with 36.4% for the PN and 23.6%, who would not vote. Among men, the PN has a margin- al advantage at 36.5% compared with Labour's 35.6%. Among men, 24.5% would not vote.
