3 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 21 OCTOBER 2026 NEWS CONTINUES FROM PAGE 1 Medical evidence revealed that Jallow suffered fractures to his pelvis and hip, together with damage to his bladder, leaving him unable to urinate. Emer- gency specialist David Grima confirmed that his injuries had placed his life in danger. Defence questions conflicting vehicle descriptions During cross-examination, defence lawyer Kris Busietta challenged police witnesses over differing descriptions of the vehicle allegedly involved in the shooting. Superintendent Melvin Camilleri confirmed that Jallow had described a black car, while Bah had reportedly referred to a white vehicle. The court also heard that CCTV footage from a nearby residence showed a white car travelling at speed along Triq tal-Ġebel at around 10:54pm, although its registration num- ber could not be identified. Busietta also questioned Camilleri about an earlier al- leged attack involving May Malimi, who was reportedly struck by a vehicle near Ħal Far in February 2019. Camilleri confirmed that po- lice first became aware of the incident through a newspaper report in April, rather than an earlier complaint from Malimi. The defence questioned why the incident had not been re- ported sooner, with Camilleri explaining that Malimi had told him he lost consciousness and could not recall what hap- pened. Judge orders examination of police officer's phone A separate dispute arose when police officer Matthew Tonna was questioned about having a screenshot of his previous court testimony on his mobile phone. Defence lawyer Edward Gatt demanded to know who had supplied the material, but Ton- na could not identify the send- er. The defence called for an in- vestigation, while the prose- cution maintained that Tonna was there to present objective recordings of emergency calls. Madam Justice Natasha Galea Sciberras ordered court-ap- pointed expert Martin Bajada to examine the phone and es- tablish who had provided the testimony and whether its dis- closure was authorised. Scicluna is accused of mur- dering Cisse and attempting to murder three other migrants in alleged racially motivated attacks in February and April 2019. He is pleading not guilty. The trial continues on Wednesday morning, with fur- ther witnesses expected to tes- tify. The prosecution is being led by AG lawyers Darlene Gri- ma, Abigail Caruana Vella and Michaela Aquilina from the At- torney General's Office, while Scicluna is represented by de- fence lawyers Edward Gatt, Kris Busietta and Alessandro Farrugia.
