39 maltatoday, THIS WEEK Teatru Salesjan hosts Maltese-language version of Alejandro Casona play THE Atturi Salesjani will be presenting a Maltese-language version of the Spanish playwright Alejandro Casona's drama 'Los árboles mueren de pie' ('Is-Sigar Imutu Wiefqa') on 30 November and 1 Decemeber. The play is a unique blend of surrealism and romance, a play on real- ity and emotions. Alejandro Casona opens an interesting window into the human soul, a trait commonly found in his works. Casona reveals a world of illusion against misery and disappointment of reality. For over twenty years, an old man was able to convince his wife that their nephew, who is was also a criminal, had disappeared entirely, changed his life and became a hard working family man. Along the years, he is made aware of his nephew's death and decides to cover the whole situation up by devising stand-ins for his nephew's family. The new couple enters the old man's life, giving rise to growing uncertainties. Would they manage to convince the old man's wife? The play is directed by Joe Camilleri, from a translation of the original by Alejandro Casona by Joe Fenech.
