On the occasion of the bicentenary of Verdi's birth, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra – conducted by Michael Laus – will be celebrating with a concert of operatic arias and overtures from some of his best loved operas at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta. In the environment of the Museum, within the Palazzo, the nativity scene will be celebrated with a Christmas Crib by Mariorick Mifsud. DECEMBER 14-JANUARY 5 Bethlehem f'Ghajnsielem An animated nativity village spread on 20,000sqm of land at Ghajnsielem Gozo. It offers naturalistic reproduction of the environ of Bethlehem and the timeless story of Nativity every December at 'Ta Passi' fields in Ghajnsielem. Bethlehem f'Ghajnsielem will also include re-enactments of the 'trip' from Nazareth to Bethlehem of Joseph and Mary as well as the Adoration of the Magi on the Epiphany (first Sunday after New Year's day) when the three Wise Men will depart on horseback from Malta to Cirkewwa terminal where they will board a ferry in mid-afternoon before making the triumphal entrance to the nativity village. DECEMBER 23 The Annual Christmas Vocal and Instrumental Concert Executive Producer Lydia Buttigieg and Musical Director Lindsey Mallia with the participation of the Notre Dame Choir under the direction of Mro Clifford Cauchi are organizing the annual Christmas concert, this year in three different localities: St Paul's Bay, Balzan and Zabbar. THEATRE DECEMBER 13, 14 S-S-Spaces Multidisciplinary performance by the rubberbodies collective inspired by the works of Georges Perec and performed at MITP Theatre, Valletta, 20:00.
