22 Sport maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 11 DECEMBER 2013 MOTORSPORTS ASMK honours 2012-13 champions L'ASSOCJAZZJONI Sport Muturi u Karozzi' (ASMK) will be organising the 2nd Moto-Enduro race at 'Torri Falka' l/o Mgarr on Sunday 15th December 2013. This off-roading event is also open to ASMK Non-members. Registration on Sunday opens at 9.00am and first race is scheduled to start within an hour. The general public is invited to attend and watch in safe places the various riders in action. This event sponsored by ASMK and Pasta Poiatti is also made possible through the support of Thomas Smith Insurance and Dunlop Tyres. Following the success of the last Enduro race held last March on this same location the ASMK Enduro Organizing Team will be constructing a '4 stages course' so the riders can demonstrate their particular skills in the various sections of the 4km long track laid on site. A group of ASMK Marshals will be observing the riders on track against fool play and can offer assistance in need may be required by the riders on track. The course is to include riding on slopes, on natural paths and on manmade obstacles from start to finish. Riders registered will be grouped in 3 Classes according to engine capacity. The 1st Heat is familiarization to the course but it also counts for the Pole Position. The following two timed Heats count for both the Class placing and also for the Overall Winner on the day. This site is a favourite place for many Enduro riders yet no one can be familiar to the tracks on site. ASMK organised a social event on Saturday 7th December at Palazzo Xara in Rabat. This was held to honour the 2012/13 Championship Winners and Runner-up for Autocross, Motocross and Trials riders. The Trophies were presented by the ASMK personnel and sponsors. Mr Paul Debattista advisor to Parl. Sec. Dr Stefan Buontempo MP stated that following a number of meeting with ASMK executive Officers, the new multi-purpose track project will be materialized in the near future. Mr Frans Deguara President ASMK thanked all who assist in any way to organize the Association's sport events and also to care for what we have achieved so far yet we have to work hard to reach higher goals especially away from our home Malta. The competitors receiving trophies for winning the National Championships were Autocross winner Patrick Cassar driving an Opel Corsa, Domenic Zammit on an Alfa Sud won the Gozo Autocross, Clayton Camilleri on a KTM won the Motocross and Damon Bonello won the Trials championship riding a Monstesa. Two ASMK Enduro riders Andrew Cassar and Nicolai Abela riding KTM m.cycles were honoured with tokens during last Saturday's MOC Awards for winning high class placings in Enduro Championship Races in Sicily organized by the Italian Federation FMI. Registrations for the ASMK Car Demolition Derby were closed last Thursday 5th December. This event scheduled for the 22nd December will be the 20th edition of the Demolition Derby held during Christmas time to raise funds for the Malta Community Chest Fund.
