This victory is a breath of fresh air for Floriana as this is their first victory in their last six matches. For Qormi, their dismal for con- tinues as they have now gone nine matches without a victory. Floriana took the lead early as just after nine minutes of play they managed to get on the scoreboard. Off a pass by Steve Pisani, Diogo Pinheiro de Sousa controlled the ball to then beat goalkeeper Steve Sultana with his shot. Qormi had a good chance to score just two minutes later but Leighton Grech's shot was saved by goal- keeper Daniel Hanford. Qormi continued to increase the pressure on Floriana, but they pro- tected their lead till the end of the first half. Eight minutes after the start of the second half, Qormi man- aged to score the equaliser. Off a pass by Jorge Pereira da Silva, Leighton Grech advanced into the area to then beat goalkeeper Daniel Hanford with his shot. Floriana regained the lead on the 58th minute. Off a pass by Igor Coronado, Diogo Pinheiro de Sou- sa had his low shot beating the on rushing Steve Sultana. Floriana made it 3-1 on the 75th minute when Qormi's Duncan Pis- ani committed an own goal when he attempted to clear a pass by Igor Coronado. On the 84th minute, Qormi man- aged to reduce Floriana's lead when off a corner by Gabriel da Silva, Al- fred Effiong's header left no chance for goalkeeper Daniel Hanford. Tarxien managed to take the lead after just five minutes of play. A powerful shot by Carlo Mamo was blocked by a defender, but off the rebound Fernando Lopes Alcantara beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his powerful shot from close range. Vittoriosa managed to score the equaliser on the 20th minute after they were awarded a penalty. Fern- ando Lopes Alcantara brought Gil- bert Martin down inside the area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. From the penalty spot, Oscar Al- varado Guerrero beat goalkeeper Nicky Vella with his shot. Two minutes before the first half ended, Tarxien were unlucky not to score when Demba Toure's powerful shot hit the woodwork to deny them the goal that would regain their lead. Both teams continued to create goal-scoring opportunities but both teams would have to settle for a draw.
