maltatoday, SUNDAY, 20 JULY 2014 14 News Brangelina's Gozo movie title revealed by Universal Pictures 'BY the Sea' is the movie which An- gelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will shoot in Gozo, Universal Pictures have said. Pitt and Jolie will star together in the drama that Jolie has written and will direct for Universal Pictures. The couple will produce the project, which was announced Friday by Donna Langley, chairman of Univer- sal Pictures, which has acquired all worldwide rights. The couple last appeared onscreen together in 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, where they originally met. The Malta Environment and Plan- ning Authority (MEPA) is imposing conditions which ensure the com- plete removal of structures built for the planned film, once shooting is completed. It has, for instance, excluded the dispersal of quarry sand which left environmental damage in the wake of the filming of the first season of Game of Thrones: the 2010 fiasco that sent the HBO fantasy produc- tion packing, never to return to Malta. Now MEPA has already received an application for the building of a film set in various areas of Mgarr ix-Xini, in Ta' Cenc, an ecologically sensitive location, part of which is designated as a Special Area of Conservation. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made a visit recently to Malta, staying here for two days, during which they scouted locations in Gozo. According to the Malta Environ- ment and Planning Authority, the building of the set "is mainly con- centrated around concreted areas" at the bottom of the bay area, and in the eastern fields overlooking Mgarr ix-Xini creek. AD says government privatising energy ALTERNATTIVA Demokratika has equated the transition of Enemalta from a corporation to a public limited company as a privatisation. AD energy spokesperson Ralph Cas- sar said Prime Minister Joseph Muscat was treating Enemalta workers in the same way previous PN administra- tions had treated shipyard workers in the recent past, despite his rhetoric and promises. "Muscat says one thing and does the opposite," Cassar said, adding that various questions regarding the new company had remained unanswered. "What is the influence of the new shareholders on government policy in the energy sector? Whose interests will they defend? Those of the public, the environment and the local economy or those of the Chinese government? It is also a shame that the GWU is tak- ing a servile attitude towards Muscat instead of defending the interests of its members." 33% of Enemalta plc will belong to Chinese state-owned company Shang- hai Power Electric, which has injected €320 million into the ailing corpora- tion. Cassar called on the government to make its plans and policies in the en- ergy sector clear. "The government is not interested in exploring and in- vesting in new and clean sources of energy. We have had Minister Konrad Mizzi telling us that wind energy is not viable - this goes contrary to logic, it is a known fact that wind energy is one of the most developed clean en- ergy sources. The only thing which is clear is that this government is selling our energy sovereignty to the Chinese government." Ralph Cassar
