The coaches in charge of the MSSF boys were Michael Farrugia, Paul Camilleri and Kenneth Deguara. Also participating in the tournament was Liam Reno Gatt in the Under 16 Sec- tion. After taking part in last year's event with the MSSF he was invited to play with the local Swedish football team IFK Ostersund as a guest player. He left a very good impression with the team where he showed good skills and attitude helping the locals reach the quarter-finals, scoring three goals in the process. Besides given space on the local newspapers, the club also recognised Liam for his professional commitment throughout the tournament. Liam Reno Gatt German FA confident Loew will stay Mark Gatt reaches another two finals on Senior Tennis Tour LAHM announced his retirement from international football on Friday after having captained his country to World Cup glory this summer. Loew, who signed a two-year ex- tension to his contract prior to the World Cup, has been rumoured to be considering his own posi- tion after taking the final step at a major tournament following three previous near-misses. Niersbach has dismissed that speculation, however, and stated he fully expects Loew to remain in charge up to Euro 2016, and be- yond. "Everything has been cleared and it is obvious who will be sitting on our bench when we play Argentina, again, on September 3," Niersbach said at a meeting of the Bavarian Football Association, according to Kicker magazine. "We don't need to worry at all about the national team coach." Niersbach believes Loew can emulate Vicente del Bosque by leading Germany to the European Championships title in two years' time, like Spain did in 2010 and 2012. "That is also Joachim Loew's aim," added Niersbach. Joachim Loew LAST week Mark had another good week on the Senior Tennis Tour at Frinton On Sea in the UK on grass. In the singles Mark had some good wins. First he played against Oliver Focher(GBR)6/2/6/1.How- ever the result was closer than the scoreline suggests. His next match was versus world ranked 159 in the world O35 Nigel Hunter(GBR). Mark won the first set 7/5 getting the crucial break of serve at 6/5. He was then leading his opponent 3/2 in the second set when the rain came down. His opponent unfor- tunately decided to concede the match and Mark was through to his first singles Final on the Sen- ior Tour without losing his service once. The next day Mark`s final was on the main show court. It was very windy and his opponent, world ranked no.24 in the O35s, Jonath- an Downes(GBR) had a great start and mastered the conditions better than Mark. Mark struggled to hold serve only managing to hold serve once in the set 1/6. Mark started the second set well and was man- aging to win his service games at the start of the set. At 3/2 he got the break only to be broken straight back. The remain- ing games went with serve mean- ing that the second set went to a tie break. Mark played the breaker well winning it 7/4 to square the match. He even broke his op- ponents serve at the start of the third set. He went 3/1 up only to be broken back. Mark held serve to square the match again at 4 all. His opponent then won 2 games in a row and the title. In the doubles Mark and his partner for the week Ryan Williams(GBR) played very well in the semi finals to win 6/0,6/2 versus M. Debbane(LEB)/T. Geortzen(ESP). In the final Mark and Ryan played Danny Ward(GBR) who has represented Great Britain and has been as high as no5 in the world O35 and his partner Michael Elames(GBR)(No 16 O35). Mark and his partner lost the final by a very respectable scoreline of 6/4 6/2. From his efforts last week Mark has improved his ITF World Rank- ing to 125 in singles(up 160 places) and to 85 in doubles(up 45 places). Mark Gatt
