For Pieta, this was their third defeat of the season. Pieta were the better team in the first half and they managed to take the lead in the 33rd minute. Gabriel da Silva served Rafael Xavier who then went on to beat goalkeeper Valerio Senatore with his low shot to give Pieta the lead. Floriana managed to get back on track just five minutes into the sec- ond half. Matteo Piciollo easily beat goalkeeper David Cassar with his shot after receiving a precise pass from Manuel Briffa. Minutes later, Floriana almost took the lead when Felipe Moriera Cobo's corner landed right in front of Steve Bonnici, but the latter's shot went just wide. Floriana finally managed to take the lead in the 59th minute. A shot by Amadou Samb from inside the area was partially saved by the goalkeeper and off the rebound, Matteo Piciollo scored from close range. Floriana made sure they took home all three points in the 67th minute when they scored their third goal of the match. Amadou Samb headed in- to the net off a corner by Clyde Borg, leaving no chance for goalkeeper David Cassar. This is not the result Sliema were looking for as they are still chasing their first win of the season. For Qormi it was a more positive affair as they managed to collect a point after losing their last two matches. Qormi created the first real goal scoring opportunity in the 23rd minute. Albert Bruce's effort went just wide after receiving a precise cross from Frank Temile. It was then Sliema who went close to scoring in the 36th minute. A corner by Guy Kassa Gnabayou went directly towards Michael Mifsud whose header was def lected into a corner by Zoran Levnaic. Sliema went close to scoring again eight minutes into the sec- ond half. A shot by Filippo Talato was def lected into a corner and then in the 56th minute, a shot by Trevor Cilia was def lected into a corner by goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia. One minute from time Sliema had an excellent chance to score the winner. A corner by Trevor Cilia created a goalmouth scram- ble with Filippo Talato having his shot cleared from the goal line by goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia.
