A temporary Autocross track is being built by some ASMK Offic- ers in a field in Sannat Road, San- nat. The area which is large enough for this purpose is made available through its owner in between the seasons for the land to be prepared for newer seasonal crops. Minister Refalo MP for Gozo is supporting this special ASMK event for ARKA Foundation to- gether with the Local Councils for Sannat, Victoria and Xewkija. Gozo Police are also cooperative together with family Apap and many other Gozo contributors for making this event possible and a success. The Practice sessions for all Mal- tese and Gozo drivers will be held on Saturday afternoon while real racing is scheduled to start early on Sunday morning until late in the af- ternoon. All competitors and spec- tators are expected to hand a do- nation for ARKA Foundation. The Presentation of trophies by distinc- tive persons will be held on site to conclude the event. While ASMK is using its own and other special heavy equipment we are taking this opportunity to refurbish the Nadur Motocross Track. On Saturday 6th September a group of ASMK Officers, execu- tives and some drivers too offered a whole day's voluntary work at 'Dar tal-Providenza' in Siggiewi. Much manual work consisted of clean- ing large areas within the site fields and recreational areas by the use of the ASMK Excavator and Dumper machines. Other work included the maintenance of one of the ponds in the gardens while another group were painting and decorating resi- dential halls and corridors within the main building. While the special events were held locally by ASMK members Shawn Buttigieg and Luke Farrugia were racing their SuperStreet Bikes in Santa Pod in UK. They were rac- ing in the FIM-Europe SSB Cham- pionship Cup among over 30 Euro- pean competitors. Though Shawn was racing his first ever Champi- onship abroad he is so keen and finish an honourable in 3rd place overall. His bike is also a member of the Maltese Kalanc Drag Racing Team who also won the FIA Euro- pean Championship in TMD ahead of another Maltese Mr Whippy Team. In the coming days another three (3) ASMK Motocross riders will be competing in the 5th Round of the 'FMI Regional Championship in Sicily'. All three riders have already won high placings in their respec- tive Championship classes abroad. Besides the travelling expences incurred these riders are well pre- pared physically as well as their racing machines. More local and abroad events will be challenged in the near future by ASMK Licensed riders in European Champion- ships. LAST Friday and Saturday the Marsa C.C took on Crouch End C.C who are from the North of Lon- don and playing their first series in Malta. On Friday the hosts batted first in the twenty over encounter. A great opening partnership from John Cal- lus (twenty seven runs) and Chris Naudi (twenty six runs) of fifty runs help set the innings. Frank Spi- teri was on fire smashing forty runs from nineteen balls which included eight boundaries. Sam Aquilina chipped in with eighteen runs and Tim Wheeler made fourteen from a reasonable total of 145 runs. For Crouch End Jack Goldberg, Mike Barely and Adam O'Shea all took a wicket. Jack Goldberg played an amazing innings of fifty two runs not out, which included six fours and a six. His innings almost had his team over the line, unfortunately when the overs were up they were still six runs short. James Down and Adam O'Shea both made thirteen runs and there were twenty one extras. Fine bowling from Paul Bradley had him earn four wickets, John Callus took two while Kevin Krish- na, Ravi Sharma and Joy Ghoseroy took a wicket each. Marsa go one up in the series. On Saturday in a forty over game, Crouch End batted first, Parker who made a few runs the previous day , opened the innings and played a superb knock , making sixty eight runs which included seven bounda- ries. Olly Greally who also missed out in the previous day made a gritty thirty eight runs while Root made twenty eight runs from a fair total of 185 runs, they were bowled out in the thirty ninth over. For Marsa Jaisel and Tony Azzopardi took two wickets each while Ra- madeep Singh, Sarfraz Ali, Ronnie Sacco and Paul Bradley all too a wicket. The Marsa team would normally be happy when chasing 185 runs and by the twenty ninth over they had 173 runs on the board. This was the case , the only problem is that they were bowled out. Su- mair Khan batted well top scoring with forty runs which include five boundaries. Nowell Khosla made twenty two runs and Ramadeep Singh seventeen. Extras were at twenty eight.
