This recital brings together the music of daddy Bach and his sons in a month that is very important for the Bach family – it is Carl Philip Emanuel Bach's 301st birthday on March 8 and Johann Sebastian Bach's 330th birthday on March 21. MARCH 6 Massacre House Party – Anniversary Edition Indie rock gig and party at Django Jazz Bar, Republic Street, Valletta at 21:30. Entrance is at €3. MARCH 12-15 L'Elisir d'Amore Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera in two acts at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta at 19:30. Featuring the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, directed by Denise Mulholland and conducted by Philip Walsh. Soloists include: Adina - Madina Karbeli / Shoushik Barsoumian, Nemorino - Cliff Zammit Stevens / Matteo Mezzaro, Belcore - Philippe-Nicolas Martin / Valdis Jansons, Dulcamara - Emilio Marcucci / Luciano Miotto and Giannetta - Francesca Aquilina / Rosabelle Bianchi. MARCH 13 The Areola Treat live The alternative rock band Areola Treat will be performing at Razzett l-Ahmar, Mosta at 21:30. The 90-minute gig will feature six new songs from the quartet. MARCH 14 Riccardo Fogli and Hit Italy band Veteran Italian singer Riccardo Fogli will be performing with his band at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta at 20:30. Riccardo Fogli's music has captured the hearts of millions of listeners. His music style consists mainly of ballads and pop songs with Italian lyrics. Riccardo won the Festival di Sanremo in 1982 with the song 'Storie di Tutti i Giorni', the one many Maltese know by heart. EXHIBITIONS MARCH 6-27 Carmelo Mangion: Visions of a Maltese Master Exhibition of works by the inf luential late painter at Casino Maltese, Valletta. MARCH 7-APRIL 5 The Overlooked Performance Photography exhibition by Alex Attard at St James Cavalier, Valletta, presenting itself as a showcase of the ephemeral art beneath the face of Renzo Piano's new Parliament for Valletta. The Overlooked Performance exhibition is both an artistic expression and a document to the skin beneath the face of an historic architectural intervention and to the temporality of man at his workplace. The exhibition is curated by Vince Briffa. UNTIL MARCH 15 Afterselfie – beyond masks Collective exhibition at St James Cavalier, Valletta. Featuring works by Raphael Vella, Elisa Von Brockdorff, Adrian Abela, Ritty Tacsum, Goghi&Goghi collective, Gabriele Grones, Jacopo Dimastrogiovanni, Elia Nadie and Debora Fella. The idea behind Afterselfie was conceived at the 2014 edition of the Curatorial School at VIVA (the Valletta International Visual Art Festival), one of the Valletta 2018 Foundation's projects from its diverse Cultural Programme. Afterselfie is, first and foremost, a cultural exchange between Malta and Italy as a number of Maltese and Italian artists will be showcasing their work in both countries. After being displayed at St James Cavalier, the exhibition will then move to Palazzo Trentini in Trento, Italy and will run from May 15 to 31. UNTIL MAY 1 The Roman Inquisition in Malta Exhibition at the Inquisitor's Palace, Birgu. The exhibition narrates the multifaceted role of the Inquisitor as supreme judge of the Holy Inquisition and Apostolic Delegate representative of the Papacy. It offers a unique and unprecedented opportunity to get to terms with stories of witchcraft, magical spells, theft and profanation of the sacred and a myriad of other curious episodes from the past. THEATRE AND DANCE MARCH 15 Love's Labour's Won Live screening of the Royal Shakespeare Company production at St James Cavalier, Valletta at 18:30. Christopher Luscombe directs the second of Shakespeare's matching pair of comedies that rejoice in our capacity to find love in the most unlikely places. Better known as Much Ado About Nothing, the play is performed under the title Love's Labour's Won, a name possibly attributed to it during Shakespeare's lifetime. Tickets are at €12, €10 and €8.
