This initiative came about in recognition of the fact that today the group employs in- idividuals coming from over 50 countries across all continents. A communication campaign preceeded the actual day. It fo- cused on the need to recognize and appreciate the cultural dif- ferences of employees at the place of work. Cultural problems can range from miscommunication to actual conflict, all endangering effective worker productivity and performance. Developing cultural appreciation and competence re- sults in an ability to understand, communicate with, and effec- tively interact with people across cultures, and work with varying cultural beliefs. The day reached its culmination during a special event for which employees were invited to come over dressed in national costume, to prepare food typical of their country and to perform a tradi- tional song or dance. The response to this initiative was overwhelm- ing resulting in a very vibrant and colourful event. All those present had the opportunity to taste the different dishes prepared and to appreciate the variety of costumes colleagues wore for the occasion. Participants also experienced the different languages as expressed in the different folk songs and po- ems performed during the event as well as the traditional dance routines prepared by some of the employees. Commenting on this initiative the group's director of HR, Charlo Bonnici said that "the response to this initiative was indicative of our employees' eagerness to get to know better the cultural backgrounds of colleagues they work with. I am proud to say that despite this cultural diversity we rarely have any issues whatsoever. Our employees focus on the job they have to do and work as a team irrespective as of any differences that may exist. Diversity is after all one of our most cherished core values". Red Bull Beat it dance competition in Malta RED Bull Beat It is a revolution- ary street-dance contest where anyone, regardless of their dance ability and style, can take part. The concept is simple. There are no prescribed techniques for the participants and dancing is not limited to any particular music genre. The most important thing is to be creative. The event in Malta will kick off with auditions at St James Cava- lier on Saturday 29th April. Judg- es will select 16 dancers that will make it to the Main Event which will be held in front of the Great Siege Square in Valletta on Satur- day 13th May. The audience will then decide on the winner. Further information about the event and details on how to take part can be obtained from the Fa- cebook event page – Red Bull Beat it 2017 // Malta. The event is be- ing organized by O.T.H. (Oppor- tunity, Transparency, Hope) and supported by Urban Jungle.
