A five-piece band will once again create a lively atmosphere with jazz classics and original improvisations for three hours. SEPTEMBER 11 Stage and Proms on the Sea The Gozo Youth Wind Band, (GYWB) will present a spectacular concert reminiscent of London West End Shows at the Mġarr Marina, in Gozo at 20:30. MISCELLANEOUS SEPTEMBER 11-13 Game Tales Game Tales is a game narrative and writing workshop hosted by the Institute of Digital Games - University of Malta with the support of Arts Council Malta, featuring talks and hands-on writing sessions by award winning game writers and designers Meg Jayanth, Rob Morgan, Aksel Koie and Mink Ette. Taking place at the Valletta Campus of the University of Malta, St Paul's Street, Valletta. The event will be launched with a keynote address on September 11 at 18:00. SEPTEMBER 12 Wiki Loves Monuments: Workshop Workshop and information session regarding the Wiki Loves Monuments initiative at Spazju Kreattiv at St James Cavalier, Valletta at 18:00. Throughout the month of September the public is encouraged to take photos of their local monuments and heritage sites and upload them to Wikimedia Commons using a free licence, in order for them to be shared and used across Wiki platforms and within the public domain. More information: https://goo.gl/5X5xJH. SEPTEMBER 15, 16 Maltese Food and Wine Festival Food and wine festival held at Hal Ghaxaq from 19:00. Visitors will be able to find will be able to find horse meat, local pork, Maltese home-made ravioli and the famous Maltese platter. The Maltese platter includes a selection of indigenous Maltese products, such as, peppered goats' cheese, Maltese sausages, snails, bigilla (brown bean dip), arjoli (a local dip served with snails), olives, and our own ħobż biż-żejt (Maltese bread with tomato spread and other local ingredients). SEPTEMBER 16 Brotherhood: A Story of Metal in Malta Premiere screening of locally produced documentary on the Maltese metal music scene at Embassy, Valletta at 10:30. THURSDAYS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 28 Maltese Nights at Valletta Waterfront Take in the scenic Grand Harbour views and re-live traditional Malta at Valletta Waterfront every Thursday evening until September 28. Activities include traditional folk dancing, falconry displays, "terramaxka" (street organ) music, artisan market stalls, as well as duelling parades between the Knights of St. John and the Ottoman Turks, amongst other activities. SEPTEMBER 29 Eden Comedy Club's 17th Stand Up Comedy Night Stand-up comedy night featuring international comedians Tamar Broadbent and Al Lubel at Eden Cinemas, St Julian's at 19:30. Celebrating Senglea with a one-day festival Merhba Sengleana is a community-driven festival celebrating Senglea, taking place on September 16 from 11:00 to 23:00 Merhba Sengleana is a com- munity driven festival that cel- ebrates the fabric and cultural realities of Senglea. Conceived and developed with the support of the Department of Local Gov- ernment (DLG) and the Kunsill Lokali l-Isla, Merhba Sengleana celebrates community through art, culture and identity. The event will kick off with five-a-side football coaching, for children and youths in the Venda of Senglea, followed by the first 'Cottoner Cup' tournament at 11:00. At dusk the lights of the square will be switched off and the public will be invited to play on an LED lit pitch and a f luores- cent ball. At 14:00, the Regatta Club will host a slack line across the Barkun, and will open its doors for the public to discover and learn about the work, craftsman- ship and athleticism the Regatta world entails. On the Xatt side of Senglea, artists and artisans will display their wares, restoration projects, model building and works, as well as offer a hands on approach through various work- shops of their work and art forms from 15:00 onwards. Triq is-Sirena will be littered with candles paving the way to the Belvedere overlooking the harbor that will in turn be trans- formed into a fairyland of f low- ers, angels, clouds and myths made out of paper. Children will be invited to engage with the artists as well as create works of their own throughout the af- ternoon long workshops. In the evening the public will be in- vited to a relaxing chill out live duo, whilst sipping on a glass of wine and street food enjoying the breath taking views. On the Macina side, the Xatt will also host a typical Maltese f lavour of Bocci, Ghana, Maltese bites, art and bird sprucing at the Cottonera Zabbar Homing Un- ion as well as a visual narrative of seafaring by the Sajjieda Ghaqda dilletanti Sajjieda u Barklori. There will also be a 'Gostra' event at 18:00, and artists will open up their spaces to the pub- lic to be enjoyed all evening. The steps of Migja tal Papa on the Xatt will be used in all its symmetry to serve as a refer- ence point and grand stand for the festival's final concert, not before hosting a troupe of young dancers as well as a celebration and publication of a cultural and historical narrative of Senglea Citta Invicta by the community itself. The festival will be hosted by Senglea's very own Chiara.
