maltatoday, SUNDAY, 24 SEPTEMBER 2017 X Gaming Entering Simplicity is your motto. Can you give us some insight into the services you provide? With Sezame we have developed a revo- lutionary and already patented technol- ogy for Multi-Factor-Authentication. It enables the end-user to log in easily to his favorite password-secured websites without any passwords at all. In doing this our technology offers the highest security standards. The clue is that we utilise smartphones as a biometric remote control with fingerprint authentication – a device people carry with them perma- nently anyway. They do not need any extra devices like security tokens and no complicated codes. Just their phone and a finger. As simple as it is in daily use, Sezame is also simple to install: It requires virtually no end-user configuration and no hardware instal- lation at the trust partners' site: just the users' smartphone with the Sezame app (plus a little piece of software provided to partners). What are the main advantages of a biometric identification? It is simple and safe! We offer high security-standards without compromising usability. Worldwide online-companies are struggling to keep sensitive information like financial data safe. Customers find it difficult to manage all their different pass- words. With the result that 123456 is still the world's most popular password! A stronger authentication mix it harder for hackers to access accounts, but most systems are not really user friendly. With Sezame it does not have to be a trade off between security and usability. We make multi-factor authentication easy and convenient. You have been selected to showcase at SiGMA 2017 in November. How can a gaming company benefit from your secure patented service? The gaming industry has several is- sues that can be well addressed with our product. Besides verification of financial transactions on the Internet, there are is- sues like age verification or identity check that are of vital interest to this industry. As internet fraud is on the rise with more sophisticated attacks, it is time for compa- nies and organizations in general to imple- ment multifactor authentication solutions in order to prevent account holders from becoming victims. Nowadays, online games contain a wealth of financial and sensitive informa- tion about users, along with other valuable assets. Sezame provides authentication as a service built to prevent account takeo- ver and data theft without the hassle and cost of traditional solutions. All access to sensitive customer data needs biometric authentication, which is easily integrated and can help companies to increase online revenues and reduce call center costs. Can biometrics revolutionize the gaming industry and its security? Recent developments in online gaming platforms have created new possibilities for cybercriminals to swindle huge amounts of money from an industry that is worth bil- lions of US dollars. Some experts even say the gaming industry can become the next big target of cybercrime. Why bother taking the pains of hacking a banking network when there is easier cash to be made in the gaming industry? There- fore securing the games requires collective effort of security vendors and publishers. We believe security should be already considered in an early stage of the game development process. It is of growing im- portance for developers, manufacturers and gamers alike to take game security more seriously. And we will definitely see much more awareness as the threat becomes real and obvious. Right now we see a lack of awareness, at least in some areas. Biometric multi-factor authentication offers, as I said before, high security standards, convenience and it is easily implemented. Who are your partners at the moment? Are you planning to expand your partnership network? What kind of businesses are you targeting? We have partnerships with hosting companies and publishing houses and our team has backgrounds at global player companies in telecommunications as well as the media and entertainment sector. We believe that our product can be extremely useful in several sectors, from online retail businesses over fintech applications to the health industry. Moreover we will launch a second prod- uct line in October, called sezameSAFE. With this you can use your Sezame APP to authorize access to data stored on an exter- nal HDD, USB stick or in predefined folders on your Cloud storage. Where do you see Sezame in the next five years? As we address a multi-billion dollar market in several branches with a solution to a worldwide problem, we currently see virtually no limits and endless opportunities for our business. Everyone on the founding team has almost 20 years of experience in multinational companies. We know how to build, design and operate the best brands in the world, we are well connected and ac- customed to think in large dimensions. Our vision is that Sezame will be on top of the list when people think of state-of-the-art multi-factor-authentication, nothing less than the first choice when it comes to Open Sezame! Ester Mocchegiani speaks to Markus Gürtler, co-founder and chief sales officer of Finpin Technologies about Sezame, a revolutionary technology for multi-factor authentication which has been developed to provide users easy and secure access to password-secured websites by replacing passwords with fingerprints. He explains how Sezame works and how companies all over the world and the gaming industry can benefits from it. Open Sezame!
