OCTOBER 21 An Evening With Simon Critchley The Futures of Literature Research Network presents an evening with Simon Critchley, who will be reading from his latest book What We Think About When We Think About Football. The event will be taking place at the Valletta Campus of the University of Malta, St Paul's Street, Valletta at 18:00. A wine reception will follow the talk. Simon Critchley is Hans Jonas Professor of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York. FESTIVAL SEPTEMBER 29 Science in the City 2017 Annual edition of the science and arts festival forming part of the international 'Researchers' Night' initiative and taking place across the streets of Valletta from 18:00 till late. Programme of events starts at 19:00, with the majority of events ending at 00:00 while the city's bars and establishments will be open throughout the celebration. On October 7, the performance will be a Notte Bianca special at 18:30, which will include a complementary welcome drink and a post- show Q&A session with the actors and director. ENTERTAINMENT & NIGHTLIFE THURSDAYS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 28 Maltese Nights at Valletta Waterfront Take in the scenic Grand Harbour views and re-live traditional Malta at Valletta Waterfront every Thursday evening until September 28. Activities include traditional folk dancing, falconry displays, "terramaxka" (street organ) music, artisan market stalls, as well as duelling parades between the Knights of St. John and the Ottoman Turks, amongst other activities. Featuring military bands and other elements which come together to provide a show for audiences of all ages. Broadcast live from the National Gallery, London and presented by BFI London Film Festival. A unique animated film where every frame is a painting, 'Loving Vincent' begins after the death of van Gogh, and follows one man's quest to discover how he really died. Featuring actors Douglas Booth, Jerome Flynn, Chris O'Dowd, Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan, Aiden Turner, Helen McCrory, Eleanor Tomlinson and John Sessions. The Chinese government decides to build a space station. Zhang Tiancong becomes an instructor of the new generation astronauts and meanwhile their competitor. After the astronaut election, Zhang's group fails to be chosen due to age issue. Unexpectedly, Wentian 1 is suddenly hit by an unknown object after its launch, the solar panel is damaged and the astronauts are in great danger. Could Zhang's team save the day?
