maltatoday WEDNESDAY 1 NOVEMBER 2017 17 Events European Property Awards 2017-18 recognise Tigné Point development Q2 TIGNÉ Point development Q2 has been recognised as the 'Best Residential Develop- ment for Malta' and 'Best Resi- dential Apartment for Malta' at the European Property Awards 2017-18. The awards specifically rec- ognised MIDI's most recent residential phase, compris- ing 60 waterfront apartments set within a 13-storey build- ing. Each apartment has been designed by Maltese interior designer Martin Xuereb and Associates, and includes stun- ning panoramic sea views and sizeable terrace. The independent panel of 70 industry expert judges, chaired by Lord Caithness, Lord Best, The Earl of Liver- pool and Lord Thurso, praised MIDI's Tigné Point develop- ment for its superior quality, originality, innovative design and commitment to sustain- ability. Hosted at the Lancaster Ho- tel, London, UK, last week, the European Property Awards were open to residential and commercial property profes- sionals from around the globe and celebrate the highest lev- els of achievement by compa- nies operating in all sectors of the real estate industry. Tigné Point is the largest real estate regeneration project in Malta, spanning 130,000 square metres. Set on a wa- terfront headland overlooking the baroque capital Valletta, the development incorporates a wealth of publicly available facilities, making Tigné Point a 'destination' address for local residents and tourists alike. The facilities at Tigné Point include: • Open spaces and piazzas • Cafés and restaurants • Sports and leisure ameni- ties • A wealth of retail options in the shape of The Point Shopping Mall and Pjaz- za Tigné • High specification resi- dential apartments • A commercial business centre. Commenting on MIDI's suc- cess at the European Property Awards 2017-18, MIDI plc CEO Mark Portelli said that the awards recognised MIDI's significant efforts in making Tigné Point a destination ad- dress, providing a wealth of open spaces and amenities for the whole community to en- joy. Tigné Point is one of the most forward-looking and compre- hensive real estate projects ever planned for Malta. Part of the circa €600 million Mi- di development, Tigné Point bridges the gap between the island's rich cultural heritage, and an altogether newer sense of luxury and sophistication. Conceived as a mixed-use, lifestyle development, Tigné Point is currently best known for its luxurious apartments. Whilst these continue to at- tract buyers from different corners of the globe, the resi- dential component of the pro- ject comprises just 55% of the area of the peninsula. This is complemented by 'The Point' shopping mall, Malta's larg- est retail centre, and the car- free Pjazza Tigné - the heart of this mixed-use project and the largest square in the fash- ionable Sliema district. An international grade business block, known as The Centre, provides some 15,000sqm of office space.
