maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 25 JULY 2018 15 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON EXHIBITIONS UP TO JULY 29 Misc Exhibition Misc is an exhibition show- casing works of ten Fine Art students in the Department of Art & Art History, Faculty of Arts, at the University of Malta. The exhibition has been organised entirely by the students themselves, and all the artists and their lec- turers will be present at the opening event. Entrance is free and refreshments will be available. JULY 27 Night at the Museum Heritage Malta is organis- ing a night of special activi- ties at the National Museum of Natural History. Museum staff and curators will lead those present on a series of thematic tours of the dis- plays and study collections. Various talks will be held dis- cussing the role of the muse- um and its collection, includ- ing a number of rare items which are very rarely placed on display. The event, start- ing at 8pm will end at 7am. Tickets can be bought on the Heritage Malta website. MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT AUGUST 11 Notte Italiana The Notte Italiana is back for its second edition on Sat- urday 11 August at Pjazza Teatru Rjal. Once again, this concert promises to bring about the true Italian spirit to our shores through some of Italy's all-time favourite songs. Joined by singers Alex Schembri, Neville Refalo, Georgina, Olivia Lewis and Nadia Vella, the Malta Con- cert Orchestra will be per- forming some of Italy's great- est hits. The concert on 11 August will start at 8:30pm. Tickets are available from w w w.pjazzateatrurjal.com. JULY 30 – AUGUST 30 Rock'N Malta Rock 'N Malta will feature various concerts throughout August. Featuring Gogol Bor- dello and Brodu on 30 July, Julian Marley and The Upsid- ers, as well as ManaTapu on 18 August, Dark Tranquility, Evergrey, and Colourblind on 24 August, and Kaiser Chiefs and Bila on 30 August. Ticket information and purchase is available from the Rock 'N Malta page on Facebook. MUSIC AND NIGHTLIFE AUGUST 14-15 Summer Daze Malta Summer Daze Malta will feature three main events. Tuesday 14 will see two events. A free party at Ta'Qali featuring Martin Garrix, Rita Ora, Danny Howard, and more, and an after party at Numero Uno. The festival will close with a sunset pool party at Café Del Mar on Wednesday 15, with Roger Sanchez, Monki and Kristen Knight. Book your tickets on summerdazemalta.com. THEATRE UNTIL JULY 29 IL-Hanina Maddalena Il-Hanina Maddalena is tipped to be the biggest spectacle this summer. The music by esteemed maestro Dominic Galea, penned by Simon Bartolo with lyrics by Loranne Vella will feature audience favourites Chiara, Amber, and Leontine in the lead roles. Directed by Jo- sette Ciappara and from the same producers of Balzunet- ta Towers, this is expected to be this summer's best seller. Get your tickets now! SEPT 14 -23 Stitching The banned play, Stitching, will finally be showing in Malta, at the Manoel Thea- tre next September. Anthony Neilson's masterpiece deal- ing with loss will be shown after it was banned for many years, hosted by Unifaun Theatre Production. Tickets for the 18+ play can be found on the Teatru Manuel Web- site at 20 euro. EVENINGS ON CAMPUS JULY 27 - 28 StorjaKanta 2 After last year's success, StorjaKanta is back! The night will be filled with mu- sic and literature dedicated to the Maltese language. Trevor Zahra will be reading some of his new stories dur- ing the night. Carazon Mizzi will also be singing songs from his new album furing the night. Tickets can be bought on http://ticketline. com.mt JULY 29 Reaching society through Science This edition of Café Sci- entifique will discuss inter- national research from the 'Reach High Scholars Pro- gramme' in which they'll talk about their work. Their work varies from medicine to engi- neering, but all affect society in some way or other. Joseph Vancell will be discuss- ing the research being done right now and how distance learning can help mature students. Romina Briffa will also discuss cancer research. The event starts at 8pm. En- trance is free but donations for RIDT will be collected. JULY 31 Malta Solar Cinema Solar Cinema is a mobile cinema from Holland which is currently going around dif- ferent countries. The cinema works with sun energy and is 100% auto sustainable with- out any electricity used in the process. During the night, a short film, Bon Voyage, by Fabio Friedli, will be shown. The short film will tackle the issue of immigration and mi- grants' lives in Europe. The event starts at 8pm. Entrance is free but they will be col- lecting donations for RIDT. FESTIVALS JULY 27- 29 Kinemastik International Short Film Festival #14 Kinemastik 's annual short film festival has earned it- self a place in the hearts of local filmgoers thanks to an intimate ambience that al- lows viewers to experience the full appeal of the short films selected. The event will take place at Garden of Rest, Floriana, Malta. Tick- ets: Friday: 8.5 € (includes after screening par tee) Sat- urday: 8.5€ (includes after screening Krautrock Ka- raoke) Sunday (Little Rock People - kids film fest) - 6€ adults, 4€ kids. Kinemastik is supported by Arts Coun- cil Malta through Strategic Partnership Programme. JULY 26 – AUGUST 4 The Farsons Beer Festival The 38th edition of the Farsons Beer Festival will be held from Thursday, 26th July to Saturday, 4th August 2018. The Farsons Beer Fes- tival is one of Malta's hot- test summer celebrations. Running over 10 days, the outdoor festival brings to- gether the best local music, beer, and entertainment at Ta' Qali National Park. The festival is one of Malta's most awaited summer an- nual events, drawing thou- sands of festival goers every night. Entrance is free. AUGUST 9-12 Delicata Classic Wine Festival The Delicata Classic Wine Festival is back for its 17th consecutive edition. As al- ways, the festival will be held at the Upper Barrakka Gar- dens in Valletta, between the 9th and 12th of August. Entrance is free, with wine glasses and purses sold until 11pm and wine poured up to 11:30pm. Live cooking stalls will be serving a tempting variety of both traditional Maltese and international dishes to tease a wide range of palates. AUGUST 24 - 26 Malta Craft Beer Festival 2018 The first ever edition of the Malta Craft Beer Fes- tival will take place in St Elmo on the 24, 25 and 26 of August 2018. With the best craft beer brands on the island, some of the fin- est street food you can find and the top alternative bands and DJs, this festival is set to become a fixed ap- pointment in your summer calendar.
