WWW.MALTATODAY.COM.MT WEDNESDAY EDITION €1.00 Newspaper post EDITORIAL • PAGE 9 WEDNESDAY • 1 AUGUST 2018 • ISSUE 598 • PUBLISHED EVERY WEDNESDAY AND SUNDAY 5c price hike on petrol and diesel At €1.3 million, Egrant inquiry was most expensive in local history PAUL COCKS PATIENTS at the Gozo General Hos- pital are expected to experience de- lays as from today due to a shortage of medical consultants, MaltaToday is informed. Last April, following the transfer of a concession for the running of three of Malta's hospitals from Vitals Global Healthcare to Steward Health Care, an agreement was signed be- tween the government and the Medi- cal Association of Malta (MAM) for recruitment at the three hospitals to remain the govern- ment's responsibility. EGRANT INQUIRY: 3 3 Gozo General Hospital to be hit by doctor shortage once again PAGE 2 BUSUTTIL, PORTELLI UNLIKELY TO FACE CRIMINAL ACTION STAFF REPORTER SIMON Busuttil and Pierre Por- telli have not been indicated by name in the Egrant inquiry for further criminal investigation, MaltaToday is informed. But the former Opposition leader may still be called in for questioning by the police over certain findings highlighted by the magistrate, sources close to the inquiry said. Portelli, who is the current Na- tionalist Party leader Adrian De- lia's right-hand man, finds him- self in the same water as Busuttil. Sources said the pair were not mentioned by name in the un- published part of the inquiry in which the magistrate suggested what further action should be taken, and against whom. Al- though the magistrate made in- direct reference to them, there is room for legal interpretation as to whether criminal action is warranted against Busuttil and Portelli, the sources said. "Simon Busuttil and Pierre Portelli could be called in for questioning by the police but it is unlikely grounds will be found for the police to proceed any fur- ther," they said. PAGE 3
