12 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 1 SEPTEMBER 2019 LISTINGS WHAT'S ON Today SEPTEMBER 1 The Annual Musical Concert The Choral and Orchestral Society Maria Bambina A.D. 1947 of Mellieħa will be holding its annual concert on Sunday 1st September, at 8.15pm in the Mellieħa Parish Square. This concert has become a trademark of the Victory day celebrations, having had its first edition in 1992. It will cover various musical styles, ranging from classical to contemporary music, and it is sure to please everyone's tastes. The main protagonists of this concert are going to be the choir and the orchestra, the singers Claire Caruana, Ludwig Galea, Sarah Bonnici, together with the Marsa Pipes and Drums and Paul Curmi Dancers under the musical direction of Mro. Michael Bonanno. The admission for this concert is free. Music 20-22 SEPTEMBER Malta Military Tattoo The Malta Military Tattoo 2019 will be held between the 20th and 22nd of September 2019 at St George's Square, Val- letta. The Malta Military Tat- too, is a yearly event which fea- tures military bands and other elements which come together to provide a spectacular show for audiences of all ages. The music played combines popular tunes, with the more classical and these are all performed in the context of a Military March parade to provide a spectacular experience for everyone to en- joy. The music chosen appeals to all ages. The display starts at 7pm. Festivals UNTIL 21 SEPTEMBER Maltese Nights in the scenic Grand Harbour Take in the scenic Grand Harbour views and re-live traditional Malta. Enjoy Mal- tese Nights on Thursday eve- nings from 7.30pm onwards: patrons can go back in time through the Maltese Islands' history and experience tra- ditional folk dancing, falcon- ry displays, Maltese games, among other activities like pony rides (available every fortnight); traditional village bands, the traditional musical terramaxka. The Valletta Wa- terfront's many restaurants and bars present a variety of offerings catering to different tastes, with dining right at the water's edge. Meanwhile the establishments' indoor din- ing areas are situated inside the tastefully refurbished, historical stores, originally constructed by Grand Master Pinto in 1752. Participation in activities is free of charge. 7 SEPTEMBER Spanish Wine Passion 2019 Calling all Spanish wine & food lovers, After three sucessful editions in the past years, Spanish Wine Passion is back for its 2019 edition. This year there will be some new wines added to the list as well as obviously the Riojas, Ruedas, Somontano, Cava, Yecla and more are a must. The event takes place on the 7th of September at the terrace of MeLounge, join them for a 4-hours open bar with some of the best Spanish wines and a selection of the finest cold cuts and chesses, starting from 8pm till midnight. On the day: €25 Theatre 4-13 OCTOBER Certified Male Certified Male will soon be produced for the first time in Malta by Exit Stage Right, known for previous success- ful productions such as I Am My Own Wife, and Every Bril- liant Thing. Certified Male was penned by award-winning Australian writers and per- formers Scott Rankin and Glynn Nicholas. For its Malta debut, Certified Male will be co-directed by Nicholas him- self alongside local theatre veteran Nanette Brimmer, and will star renowned performers Alan Montanaro, Alan Paris, Joseph Zammit and Stephen Oliver. Certified Male is pro- duced by Exit Stage Right and is being performed at the Teatru Salesjan, Sliema on 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13 October 2019.
