The Festival celebrates the wonder of books through a wide programme of family-friendly activities – in- cluding book launches and pres- entations, poetry and literature readings, meetings with authors, dramatisations of literary texts, and conferences and seminars. The festival also offers extensive networking opportunities for professionals in the book world. This year round, one of the high- lights of the Festival is the open- ing conference revolving around the literary genres of sci-fi and fantasy. The conference will be led by a number of local and overseas authors. Among them is Loranne Vella, the Brussels based author of Rokit (Merlin Publishers) and winner of the 2018 National Book Prize. The fesival will take place at the Med- iterranean Conference Centre. For more information about the Malta Book Festival, visit Music 14 NOVEMBER Operetta Highlights Bulgarian-born soprano An- driana Yordanova will grace the Refectory at Palazzo Falson to sing vivacious excerpts from some of the well-loved operet- tas that are entertaining, satiri- cal and witty. She will be singing delightful arias from the famous operettas 'Giuditta' 'The Merry Widow' and 'Paganini' all writ- ten by the composer Franz Lehár and other wonderful songs by celebrated composers such as Richard Straus and Robert Stolz, amongst others. Andriana Yor- danova will be accompanied by cellist Lucie Kucharova and vio- linist Philipp Orlov. The recital will be held on Thursday 14th November at 6.30pm. Entrance to the concert is at a suggested donation of 10 euro and patrons are invited to visit the museum at a discounted price. Revamp Malta is organising a concert at the National Library on 25th, 26th and 27th Octo- ber: Your Song - Celebrating the music of Elton John. The idea is to present fresh music arrangements of some of Elton John's greatest hits spanning his 50-year career. The line-up in- cludes some fantastic voices, ac- companied by a rhythm section and string orchestra. A concert that is being held on the 70th anniversary of his death, is a unique opportunity to listen to his magnificent orchestral pieces arranged for Two Pianos. The recital will explore Richard Strauss' symphonic works also referred to as tone poems; mu- sical pieces that illustrate the content of a poem, short story, novel, painting, landscape or other written works of a non- musical nature. The concert will be held on the 26th October at Teatru Manoel on the Main Stage starting at 8pm.
